Cristian Romero

He’s gone full blown Conte here.
He has always been like this, its not new.
Liability defensively and mentality wise he is way off.
We would be better off selling him and getting someone like Van Hecke (other CBs are available) in, who wont go tonto every few games

In every game he just seeks out the Brazilians and tries, to kill them.

If there are no Brazilians he targets young South Americans, to kill them.

@thfcsteff I know you love analogies and comparisons. Imagine you are in an empty warehouse, being held hostage by kidnappers. To save the life of your loved ones, you have a task to complete: There are 2 empty drinks cans in front of you, 2 feet apart. Your task is to boot one empty can away and knock the other can over. Simple. You can do that easily. Imagine now that one can is full, but you don't know which one. You are forced to kick the first can harder and follow through a bit harder. Imagine now that one can is full and the other is screwed into the cement floor. You are forced to kick the first can super hard and follow through super hard. Imagine now that one can is screwed down and the other is full of cement and screwed down. You smash the first and try to kill the second can. That is what Romero did. His force, his dynamics, his body language all say SMASH and KILL.

Personally I thought the red card was a bit harsh today, similar to the Chelsea game under Ang.
But it's Romero, so the Ref gave it.
But it's Romero, so HE should have not given the ref the opportunity to find a reason.

I think he was really up for this game, the team were, I think we started quite well and looked confident.

But the ref was looking to make his mark the game, and used that tackle to do it.

I feel sorry Christian today, as it was instinctive and too much passion, but he knows it was stupid.

I feel more sorry for the rest of the team, after watching that match, as I think we would have won today, if we continued going toe to toe, like we did before the sending off.

It's really disappointing...

Btw the Ref is a clown shoe, and my captain let his team down, by not understanding that this Ref is a clown shoe.

Not great that he made the disgrace pointed comment and then next match gets himself sent off. 🤦🏻‍♂️ It can be argued whether it was a red card or not, but it was a reckless act that was a big factor in our defeat today.

Sadly it seems many of you will get your wish this summer. So you've got that to look forward to!!!
First and foremost he is a central defender and our captain. In such a position a minimum requirement is that he is reliable, and quite simply he is not. We have the same discussions every few games with him and his ways - why do you think that is?

You can love his passion, aggression and the fact he is good on the ball but that doesn't detract from him constantly making mistakes and costly ones.

When he first arrived a few years ago he was no different, I figured he would eradicate the mistakes he was making as he matured but the fact he is making the very same ones he was five years ago is telling....

Maybe Romero is doing this deliberately to force his way out. After all he has a new contract and has been very vocal about management recently.

Can Dragusin and VDV stay fit for the next 4 games?

Don’t think you can link the two, he isn’t wrong in terms of what he said.

As for the sending off, as per normal short term memories - it’s pretty much been Romero dragging us forward the last few weeks, while clearly he has faults (or he would be at Madrid tbh) he is and has been one of our best players even when everyone else has looked crap. Heck as a CB he is one of our top scorers trying to be everywhere. I’m not defending the Red (nor aiming at you Dante just happened to reply to your post) but maybe if he didn’t feel like he had to do everything he could actually focus on def.

Wow.
What a pile on!

If someone can explain to me what he should've done differently here I am all eyes. I mean, I suppose he is guilty of winning the ball and trying to pass it as Casimero comes in to challenge????
