Fabio Paratici - Unemployed DoF (ban ends 30 June)

We could always do better...in hindsight.

I've not got the time right now to go through the list of signings since Paratici started with us, and don't know how much involvement he's had since the ban. However, I suspect our hit rate is one hell of a lot better than it was in the 5-10 years before him.

That's not saying much.

Massively higher. Since anything other than that AVB to early Poch spell (the Verts, Lloris, Dembele window, through Alli and Dier, to the Son one).

Fabio Paratici keeps Tottenham role after accepting suspended prison sentence

Exclusive: 53-year-old reaches settlement agreement with Italian prosecutors over capital gains case that rocked Italian football in 2021

Fabio Paratici remains a consultant to Tottenham Hotspur after accepting a suspended prison sentence as part of a settlement agreement aimed at finally freeing him of the Juventus financial controversy.

Telegraph Sport understands that there has been no change to Paratici’s contracted consultancy agreement with Spurs and that he will continue to work with the club in the same role he has occupied since resigning from his jobas managing director of football after being banned from working within the sport.

That ban expired in July and Paratici has now entered into a settlement agreement with Italian prosecutors over the Juventus “Plusvalenza” proceedings – a capital gains case that rocked Italian football in 2021 – that includes the acceptance of an 18-month suspended prison sentence. There was no admission or finding of guilt or acceptance of liability.

Tottenham have not commented on the agreement, but sources close to Paratici stress that acceptance of the suspended prison sentence was made purely to reach the quickest possible settlement that allows the Italian to focus on his career in football and put the Juventus case behind him.

Paratici was sanctioned for his role in alleged accounting irregularities involving transfers at Juventus. It is claimed that his part in the case was an alleged failure to properly account for the value of capital gains arising from player exchanges with other clubs that resulted in the reporting of reduced losses.

He was not a board member at Juventus and was not in charge of accounting matters at the Italian club. He has maintained that he has always acted in accordance with the rules.

Talks are likely to be held over the coming weeks and months over whether or not Paratici resumes a full-time position at Tottenham, but in the meantime he will continue to be used as a contracted consultant.

Having been initially appointed by and worked closely with Daniel Levy, there had been suggestions that the former chairman’s departure from Tottenham could see Paratici stop working with the club.

But that has not been the case and Levy’s exit is not thought to impact Paratici’s future employment with Spurs, whether that be as a contracted consultant or in a full-time capacity.

Paratici is understood to share a good working relationship with Tottenham chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and technical director Johan Lange.

In my mind this is the key part

"Tottenham have not commented on the agreement, but sources close to Paratici stress that acceptance of the suspended prison sentence was made purely to reach the quickest possible settlement that allows the Italian to focus on his career in football and put the Juventus case behind him."

I still believe Fabio was spacegoated by the club and the Italian system. They needed a fall guy to take the bullets. He is no saint but he's not alone in that.

For me, it's like a sales guy that brings some bad paperwork to the business. The financial controller sets out the bookable order criteria for the sales team to adhere to. If the booking happens after being inspected by the finance team then there are 2 very guilty parties, not one.

Why don't we hear about the finance guy who had the qualifications and the empowerment to stop that paperwork book even though they knew that fair market values weren't being applied? Simple answer. Because it doesn't make such a great story.

I'm also not sure our club want him at the point, other than as an advisor.

It wasn't spacegoat. He was wire tapped and was caught red handed making the deals.
For any other club it would be fine. But juve are listed on the stock exchange so it is considered inflating the share price.

And he did all this single handedly and with nobody else involved? He managed all the meetings and the negotiations etc himself? He went into the software systems and entered all the information himself? He was signatory of every layer of the deals including proxy for the finance team?

Come on. I know you're a smart guy. I believe there were 10 other executives involved and there's been a load of different punishments for them.

Why we're still focusing in on one, I don't know. That's what I mean about him being the spacegoated with the media because Juve ,made their comms strategy about Fabio and steered the press that way. GHod forbid they would hang Nedved out to dry in the same way.
