Son Heung-Min

So sad to hear the news, from the man himself. Yes, not really unexpected but I'm still surprised at how hard it hits. I'm quite teary-eyed watching his announcement and reading all the comments.
Such a shame that he won't get a proper send off at either the Super Cup or the Burnley game but he will definitely be back to visit at some point in time I am sure.
Thank you Sonny for everything you have given us. And good luck.
❤️

Just woke and read the news. Took any wind right out of my sails.

It’s the right time, no doubt. For everyone. But it hurts. I’m 45 years of age. I was well past idolising football players the way I did when I was a kid. But Sonny got me close again. As much as it is possible to love a footballer, I love him for his special talent, for everything he did for us, for his loyalty and because he seems like a really nice and genuine fella.

Son feels more “one of our own” than almost any other player of recent times. Quite an achievement for a lad from Chuncheon.

Absolute 24 carat club legend.

Oh fudge. Why is my sight getting so blurry?
My word. This news took me with more emotion than I expected!
I absolutely love Sonny, and will truly miss him, but he's been an absolute brilliant servant of the club, and he deserves to be allowed to make this choice himself, rather than being pushed out.

Bye Sonny! You will forever be a Spurs hero and legend!

I expected this but the actuality of it is painful and bitter sweet. Fare thee well, Son. Forgive me for my utterings at times and thank you for the memories, the support, the loyalty and the love you showed Spurs. You are a legend in my eyes and a player I am honoured to have watched from Pochettino, Mourinho, Conte, Nuno, Ange till date. I wish you well in your future travails and hopefully if you decide to further your career after hanging up your boots - there is a place for you here. Farewell, Heung-Min Son! Thank you!

When I think about how others have left the club, this one is being managed with class from both club and player. It's a great way of doing it.

I think you'd find it hard to find a Spurs fan that didn't love this guy. Yes, his defending was never the best and for some he shouldn't have been the captain but what he did for ten years on the pitch eclipses that by an entire universe.

Gets me wondering whether the club can follow this up with a Cuti new contract and being made the permanent captain.
