Scott Munn

What I'm really saying is I can't be doing with 'smoke' and SM chatter etc it's wholly unreliable and low grade.

Fwiw I think Munns position is mainly up for debate on one metric.
During the hiring, and also the in-season stick or twist discussions , how much did Munn back or vouch for Ange.
If there were big doubts/concerns for others and Munn twisted their arm and convinced them to go with him, and also stick with him,....then he has a big chance of being out the door as and when Ange does as it potentially could be our worst PL season ever.

Just me speculating but is this to do with where the media and comms team report into at the club?

Anthony Marshall seems to be the comms / media guy chartered to manage the area, and Donna Cullen seems to own comms overall at the club. Is is the case that the comms are driven by the commercial side, not the football ops side.

When Raziel said above that he sees negative signals toward Munn's continuation at the club, this was also one for me. Keeping your chief football officer out of the public eye does seem a little strange. I think a lot of us feel that Munn could have been more visible in the public eye during his tenure.

So my conclusion here is that Munn perhaps wasn't given the opportunity to publicly back or vouch for his man. It's not how the club operate their external comms.

I could be wrong.

I always think this desire for other figures at the club to do interviews/be visible a little weird. Not because it's not a good idea but just because I just don't think, or see, other clubs (in this country) doing it above and beyond the amount we do.

I also agree with that. You're also not dealing with a big staff so when there is one that can paint a vision and operate well in front of the camera then you utilise them. Levy isn't but Munn looks to be.

Example

I used to enjoy the Paratici interviews. He is a natural. I'll be curious to watch Lange's next one.

I'm in the camp that once in a while you should have an interview with some of the leadership team. They need to be on message though.

I agree (even if it's just a change of voice from the manager), I just don't see it often across the league (I know Radcliffe done one recently but that appeared just a convenient downbeat prelude to announcing a new stadium the very next day). Plus what are we expecting them to say (especially if they're 'on message'). Levy has said things that are then just held against him or raked up ad nauseum. Hardly an encouragement to keep speaking.

Lange does the post window sit down ones. Levy and co do the fan forum. Levy does a chairman's message post accounts and final league match.

They can say nice things...speak a good game, BUT at the end of the day on pitch results are the measure of everything.
It's just a desire for a low pay grade 101 therapy as an emotional crutch imo as it's at the tough moments it gets brought up.

What it would achieve -IMO- is protecting the manager. I personally don't need the therapy, there again I also don't need to hear from Ange every 48 or 72 hours when he has to answer the same mind-numbing questions. Frankly, I'd rather there were less mandated manager interviews overall.

Assisstant managers can do the prematch press conferences. All they say is the opposition are a good team and talk about injuries. You don't need the manager for that.

I think there is far too much communication around the game in general.

It was much better when all you had were the matches, MotD and rumours on ceefax.
