OMT: Spurs v Chelsea Thursday, 8pm at Stamford Bridge

I mentioned before that I can't remember a 90 min performance under Ange. Happy to be proven wrong. The City game came to mind but they could have been 2 or 3 up before we scored. I'm talking 90 mins of control, our keeper picking his nose, defenders assured and calm, midfield in control etc. I simply can't remember one, Villa away early on when Solomon was playing maybe?

Edit: Burnley not Villa.

One of the Villa games was probably closest

I was at the Villa game that we won 4-1 in early November. We were 0-1 down at half time and my memory is that we were bloody awful in those first 45 minutes.

Assuming that’s not one of the Villa games that you mean?

Solomon hasn't played for us this season has he? Are you thinking of early on in Anges' first season when we beat Burnley 5-1? Solomon with a couple of assists in that game....

Burnley that was it, not Villa. Was wondering why I couldn't find the result when I was searching for it.

Arsenal and Liverpool in 2023. They are his big two moments.

From a spreading our fixtures out pov shame this isn’t being played tonight no premier league, championship or FA Cup tonight. Neither team played the weekend.

Impossible that we lose this one because…

WE HAVE TIMO,
SUPER TIMO,
WE HAVE TIMO,
FROM THE LANE;

WE HAVE TIMO,
SUPER TIMO,
WE HAVE TIMO,
FROM THE LANE!

0-3. Werner hat-trick.

The amount of defensive headers Kane got through I'm not surprised that our defensive record fell off a cliff when he left. (Only half joking)

It's certainly felt quite good not having a season of talking about conceded set piece goals. Through all the adversity this season, we've done a much better job of defending corners and free-kicks.

It's not the Harry Kane's that do that though. They mark nobody and stand at the near posts. Most of their headers are table stakes. It's been guys like Dragu and Danso that have made the difference in our box, along with guys like Solanke that do traditional number 9 duties when we're defending.

Lol what a pessimistic and negative lot,

The first game back after the international break can be quite hit and miss. Chelsea is also in a poor run of firm.

I think it's about 45% chance we might still win this, especially if Chelsea lose their discipline and open up.
45% chance of a win at Stamford Bridge?? We could send 11 Harry Kanes and still not have a 45% chance. I love the optimism and I know it's 1st of April and all that but that ground is cursed!

Id forgotten all about him. He's one of those players, like Steven Pienaar or John Scales, that i just completely forget ever played for us

  • Ange Postecoglou has lost all three of his Premier League meetings with Chelsea – the only side he has faced without yet picking up a point in the competition. He could become the first ever Tottenham manager to lose each of his first four league games against Chelsea in charge of the club.
  • No side has earned fewer points in Premier League London derbies this season than Tottenham (10, level with Brentford), who have lost five of nine such games this season (W3 D1). Only in 1987-88 (6), 1989-90 (6), 2003-04 (6), and 2004-05 (7) have Spurs ever suffered more London derby defeats in a league campaign.
  • Coming into this matchday, only Leicester (10) and Southampton (12) have lost more Premier League away games this season than Tottenham Hotspur (8). Not since 2008-09 have Spurs suffered more away defeats in a single league campaign (11).
  • Chelsea have lost just one of their last 12 Premier League games against Spurs (W9 D2), winning the last three in a row by an aggregate score of 10-4.
