[The Guardian] Manchester United may terminate lease on London offices to save money

Feels like a death spiral .. will be super interesting what they do/can do in summer

It really does. Plus their omnce-impregnable fortress leaks, is generally falling apart and is a happy place for most teams to visit.

They might have thought they could sell some of the players 😆
Yep, Times have changed. Other than Saudi no one wants 27+ year old players on big wages anymore and the United squad is littered with them. Add to that the young stars signings have all flopped and they can't recoup money on them either!

Designed by Foster & Partners, so hopefully as brick as Wembley, or maybe worse if he croaks it before then.
Interesting there had been a slew of interviews with Ratcliffe trying to explain away the negativity and criticism of their tenure at United...then lo and behold let's hit them with the grandiose plans of a 2bn stadium the next day.

You're better off with DLs approach....say next to nothing.

If ever comes out that the Government have given or will give the green light for this new OT stadium to be funded by taxpayers as part of a 'wider regeneration project' then the corruption that does exist in political circles in this country will be in full technicolour view and football, PSR etc will be confirmed dead...

I dare any of the current politicians to even suggest it and remain as MPs...

Getting rid of free lunches and sacking dinner ladies to save money one day.... Building a 2 billion stadium the next lol

I can’t see how he funds it
Especially as he doesn’t own the whole club
Great idea
Looks awful though

He's been grifting for taxpayer money from day 1.

The commentary that they basically have no cash flow (would have run out in November) is a fudging disaster

Said it earlier, it looks like these clowns have pushed the club to the edge and the finances are way worse than people understand

Are they gonna need one of the famous 10 year periods of being frugal to build and start paying for the stadium?

I also think the rumours of not being able to agree on Mainoo's new contract is gonads. He's one of the lowest earners. They just know he is one of their only homegrown players they could actually sell for a good profit. Watch talks break down and him sign for Chelsea in the summer, with United trying to save face by saying he was being too greedy and asking for too much etc.

While I think the HG is true, the story is he's asking for north of 160K/week .. the problem is they have set precedent, Eriksen and Casimro who aren't even guaranteed starters are earning crazy money ..

I think they are in big problems, the kind that don't get fixed in 1 or 2 years
