    yeah but I wouldn't say either demonstrated he was doing more than satisfactory. I would say he is still unproven at an EPL level. Steve Bruce and many others do extremely well in the Championship and then plateau before sinking in the EPL. Think the jury is, at best, still out on Lampard.

    Trusting/gambling on some of the youth coming through and being more willing to get unwanted/peripheral players off the books for lower transfer fees rather than have them taking up squad spots because we paid too much for them or their value has fallen and we don't want to take the 'hit'.
