***TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Leeds OMT***

I"ve only seen highlights, but for some of the chances they had our defending was laughable, the Longstaff one in particular, how do you get that much space and time in the box.

The goal was again, crap defending, poor header from van hecke, van de van nowhere and nobody tracking the runner.

I've seen Solanke get stick in the thread but he made a great clearance that could easily have been another goal conceded.

We need clean sheets.
I don’t think our defence is particularly strong when faced with a physical challenge like the one provide by Calvert Lewin today.

Can’t score if you don’t create
Strangely it’s been the games when we haven’t played a 10 that have been the ones with no creativity….

Thing is, there were chances, Gray just failed to react to a ball that was there to tap into open goal, Kudus made a run with options in a much better place to score and decided to just smack it, the Gallagher chance was very close, Bentancur should have put in the ball from LWB. And those are just the obvious ones.

Not saying we played well, but it wasn't a zero chance game

It's good that we make some noise at last. This is the second time in three games they fail to send off a player for a stonewall red card foul. They were both clear cut, no room for interpretation.

Today was a forceful stamp, studs first, straight into the ankle/achilles. It was dangerous play, full stop. Accidental, maybe, but that matters fudge all. It was dangerous; a reckless challenge that could've broken Tel's ankle.

You could forgive the ref for not spotting it in real time, but those two muppets in the VAR box, who viewed the horror tackle 100 times over and still couldn't get the fudging basics right, should be fired and never allowed to ref a game again, even Sunday league.
The more I see it the more confused I am by the decision especially as no card was shown ( although I believe it should be red). Compare it to the Porro challenge where he wins ball cleanly imo but is carded. Can see why RDZ was furious.

Edit I think it’s worse than Mateta on Vdv because he causes Tel’s ankle to twist awkwardly which is the cause of the injury.

Gallagher has the shot
And there was the save very late on in the second half
And your right with the kudus cross shot
But it’s really not much
The Bentacur one was well off by the way
For me it was huff and puff but no quality

I thought we dealt with him and them pretty well
For me we lost it in midfield
I must admit I have only seen highlights. For their goal it looked to me like a combination of poor play from both midfield and defence. JPVH allowed DCL to have too much time to make the header then there was a gaping hole in the middle of our defence and no one tracking Okafor enabling him to run straight through and score. Also looked like Leeds had a few good chances and it was Kinsky who kept the score down as well as the inability of Tanacker to score a relatively easy chance.

kinky was great
He has been so solid … when I see Donnaruna at city and how he looks like he can barely move im glad we have a man in command
The midfield today was odd… very odd
Gray was kind of playing 10 but that doesn’t work
Felt like we changed our set up to suit them

For the next game, I'd stick Tel up front with Kudus and LWB as wingers. Marmoush and Solanke have offered the square root of feck all and don't deserve to start.

I think the non-tracking of Olafor was the big error. Have to see it again but someone blew that one. He'd just come on so I suppose Leeds took advantage but I can see DeZerbi
being furious because you do prep for precisely that!

Yep definitely poor from us. But there was also a great big hole in the middle of our defence for okafor to run into. Poor all round tbh.

I know a few have defended the recruitment in this thread and pointed out there probably wasn’t forwards that wanted to come to us. I think that’s so naive and untrue. We picked up 6 or 7 good players so the fact we finished in a poor position last season had no real baring.

It’s just pure incompetence from the recruitment team to set us up for the season with no goal scorers.

I watch games every weekend, and it’s not reactionary, other teams forwards actually have a skillset or are capable of doing certain things, whether that be Delap, Barry, Brobbey, DCL, Jackson, Evanilson, Kostoulas.

I’ve watched them all do things that Solanke cannot do. Whether it be finish, assist, rough up, etc.

How have we found ourself in this position? A multi billion pound club/company with the whole globe to choose from? I want Lange and VV to answer this. Highest prices in the league and we don’t have a single player capable of doing the one thing that defines results in a game - putting the ball in the net.

My guess is that we were about to sign Kroupi Jr but then he was injured? I think what is interesting is how none of our striker targets seem to include 9s in the traditional sense...

So then you don’t let Lankshear go or you ensure Richarlison is in the squad. Complete mismanagement of resources.

Unsurprisingly MOTD side with the ref. The simple thing to ask Proref is to ask what the difference was with the Xavi one. They’ve found some funky wording to defend today’s decision which they didn’t find for Xavi. As I said above - all b0ll0x.

Pretty comfortable with it not being a red as a single incident. He was clearly looking to the right and it was unfortunate that his left foot stood on the back of Tel's. But...this isn't a single incident. The bar has been set, including by this ref for the Xavi red. That he wasn't asked to look at it on the monitor is dumbfounding.

Other than that, a pretty terrible performance. Never looked like scoring and just lacked a lot of energy.
