Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

It's an interesting study in human behaviour this. The left wing and the press have beaten the drum about cuts to public spending for years now, the the point where intelligent people like you believe it and even repeat it.

The truth is, the tax burden is higher in this country than it has ever been since WWII. That money is spent, along with plenty more that we don't have.

More is being spent now on public services than in generations.

The problem is that too many people aren't working and those who are, are not productive enough.
Public spending has gone up, but its generally all being wasted on:
- triple lock pensions, keeping old people very wealthy
- enormous leakage to big pharma, because of NHS over-spending on drugs instead of social prescribing
- pointless missiles rusting in bunkers

Agree with all of this except you want a gentle population increase so that those working pay into the pension funds and tax to fund NHS etc.
Population increase is always a ponzi scheme though. There's no good end point to that path. Just drought, starvation or pestilence as nature takes over the wheel

My Mum worked for the NHS in an admin roll. She went to her bosses and told them at the end of her contact she was going to retire. They begged her to stay. Got a massive pay bump to work another 2 year contract. Because she even got the the point where she would have retired, she got made redundant and was paid a full years salary and the new rate. So much waste.

Healthcare and welfare are the two largest costs by far.

People cant be kind to people of other races, even those who are likely British citizens because we have illegal immigrants in the country? That sets a fcuking low bar for humanity and sounds like abit of an excuse for the racists

You gave a habit putting words in peoples mouths. That’s very clearly not what I said or even close to what I suggested. Try again please.

Nobody can see this and not think it’s an absolute fudging disaster. But it will be defended. And that’s why Reform will keep winning.

these figures refer only to individuals granted refugee status after claiming asylum in the UK, not people granted refugee status through resettlement schemes (such as those from Ukraine or Afghanistan via government-run programmes).

Also 34% of UC claimants are in work. You don't factor that in to your 66% figure.

It doesn't take in to account any trajectory for these people as UC is a natural starting point for people getting the right to work.

Basically that figure means we have a future work force and if the system works they won't be on it for long.

No i have clearly posted my sadness to racism and attacks agaisnt hard working citizens for you to respond with a bunch of stats about illegals, I dont see the correlation other than it being an excuse for people, if I am wrong I am wrong, but I don't see the logic in your replies because a bunch of stats have zero bearing on the sentiment of my posts

I am trying to have good faith conversations here, but you are kinda making it difficult

Starmer is done in my view. Now it's when, and who, and whether they find someone different from the disaster of the current cabinet and leader.
And honestly, that's fine.
We needed a few years of a technocrat after the Johnson Era (Truss and Sunak are tag on).

Starmers team have done some good stuff, but got some headline grabbing stuff wrong.
You have to get the headline stuff right, or make the stuff you get right the headline; and they've failed miserably on the last bit.

Populism is still at the forefront of political delivery, and it's the bold talking era. The Lib Dems tried quirky, Labour tried sensible - it's Farage and Polanski that are cutting through.
Labour need Angela Rayner. Otherwise they just get drowned out by Farage, Polanksi, Baydenoc.
The Lib Dems - Daisy Cooper can help them be heard, not Ed Davey.

I suspect we'll see moves to get Rayners investigation fast tracked, and she'll be PM by August/September.
