Thomas The Frank Engine

I have been keeping an eye on their forum, they were devastated about it and kind of living in hope that he turns us down. I think now that it has sunk in they are sad to see him leave and don’t want him taking Collins with him.

I think that is going to happen. I can absolutely see Collins coming with him!

I said a while back Frank was the manager linked with us that I felt the most comfortable with. Style of play? He's a chameleon in that regard, so I am not going to get chained to what he 'does' or 'doesn't' do because the truth is,m he sort of does it all. Let's see how we play under him for the most part...

...the reason the appointment makes the most sense is that he is the manager most suited to our overall model. That means in business as much as in trakkies! He knows budgets and prudence, he knows youth and talent, he is a data acolyte, he is a modern and media-savvy operator who will not step over any of the lines within the club or in the press, and he will absolutely produce a side that is top 6 competitive. Add that to his relationship with Lange, and it is absolutely the appointment which serves both THFC and THFC PLC best.

My take on the pitch is that we will be much 'easier' to watch in so much as the risks will be far less.

He'll get my full support because he is our manager, but I will add I like him/his potential appointment much more than Mourinho or Conte because it makes proper sense for the way in which we run our business and football club.

...it's who we are mate.

Are we
We will have done and even bigger churn of the squad
The football will be better than then too
I am talking feelings wise if Frank doesn't work out well. Recall the feelings around the club during the Nuno/Conte years. Of course we have bought youth and facilities have improved but the credibility or should I say competence of the management team will be further questioned.

Fair call

Fine line between direct and hoof it long and hope, transition/counter teams can be exciting, watching teams play percentage football? not so much (not that I'm accusing Frank of doing that).
The times in games this season we looked exciting and threatening came when we play direct/vertically

Frank is better communicating than Nuno, Nuno is a decent human being but I think Frank engages the media better.

Said it before, the managers that have more the motivator/hand on shoulder (BMJ, Harry, Poch, Ange) seem a better fit than the confrontational types (Ramos, Jose, Conte), Nuno was dealt a brick hand, but feel Frank is more in the first category than second.

Not my choice, would much rather we appointed Glasner. However, he'll get my full support when he signs on the dotted line.

He seems to have built up a good rapport with the media.
Whether that lasts though is a different question. They make money from drama and love nothing more than to build someone up just to knock them down.
It makes them money.

Ok I have to say I am really excited by this. No idea if he'll be a success but one of my favorite managers in the way he conducts himself. According to Wiki, He's got a degree in physical education and studied Psychology. So he should be prepared for both the physical and psychological demands on players. Yep excited.

He was my first choice. Still think he would be a good appointment. But tbh I am trusting the people who know and I'm presuming "they" are more than DL alone.
He was my first choice. I called it in December 2023 when his team pummelled us bet we won
But since Christmas this year I’ve gone more and more off him
The similarities with poch are too much and we aren’t the same team
Frank has more experience on and off the pitch (the off part being more and more key in the modern game IMO)
And he is versatile which is massively appealing

The way a manager carries himself says a hell of a lot to me
Poch was admired because he did it well
Ange has some admirers because of how he talks
Frank is a mixture
Lego Head is the extreme alternative for a comparison

My main issue with Frank is that he chews gum with his mouth wiiiide open.
Other than that, I am excited.

Yeah there's no point appointing a Mourinho or a Conte if you're not going to do stuff like smash £100m on Lautaro Martinez. Which we were never going to do.

If you want to buy the "best of the rest" PL experience (Richarlison, Bissouma) and supplement with up and coming young players you need a manager that works well doing that and enjoys doing it. Poch enjoyed it and was good at it. Redknapp loves a bargain in the market so worked well with the club in that regard.

I have said it before but I dont think Ange was actually a very good appointment for the club for a number of reasons but one of them is he's a manager with a very rigidly defined philosophy and system like Conte and needs the right sort of players to make a fist of it working. Son is a really good example of this. When Udogie inverts Son is expected to go out wide and play traditional winger but he's not that player and he's struggled in this system.
