I imagine the other thing that is impacting here is the obvious butchering at the top of the club. If the Lewis family have decided to step in and root-and-branch up-end the clubs entire management structure including potentially getting rid of Levy any previous decision re: Ange made between board and people like Munn is now null and void and a final decision will likely not be made until all of this restructure is complete....that's my take on it anyway.....

I am absolutely not having that Ange didnt go to Levy and tell him he is fudging off the league for the Europa to win it. Im convinced it was an agreed strategy

Not playing Romero and VdV in most league matches? If ange was fudging off the league without consulting Levy he would have gone ages ago. I think there would have been agreement on the strategy and if you dont win EL you are gone. No chance Levy let the league slide as each place is worth £3.5 mill in prize money

Not to mention the 1000s of tinkled off season ticket holders

This is a multi million pound business with people at the top of their game on the board, not the Dog and Duck. The decision and scenarios to sack Ange (or not) would have been made weeks/months ago. The only reason they may make a late choice to about turn and sack him is if a world class manager which fits becomes available which was unforeseen.

The fact he has not gone already leads me to conclude he isnt going.

It was our only chance of CL football - of course Levy was on board

The league went to brick in the first instance with all the injuries....caused by the kamikaze defending we do because of his ludicrous tactics. What is the point of all our high-intensity pressing and turnovers leading to scoring goals, if we leak more goals at the other end???

No that is your imagination....as you said in the opening line :)

Hey! I was on the ancestor of this very forum back then and I'll have you know this was the best time ever. There was a guy called Paul Popescu who was cooler and more knowledgeable than all of the current posters put together! I swear, these kids... (I hope it's clear this was a tongue-in-cheek comment) (apart from the praise for Paul Popescu, who really was a cool guy to chat with)
He was a right taco!.... I wonder what happened to him?!? ;)

United are taking the tinkle clearly
They value him enough to offering him silly money but only want to buy him for less then Brennan Johnson 🤬😀
Making the player a very high wage offer and then low balling the club is reasonably standard behaviour. The player then only has eyes for Man Utd and the club have the possibility of an unhappy player trying to force a move.

That argument doesnt stack up. The league went to brick in the first instance with all the injuries.
So there is probably going to be an argument about when "all the injuries" started, I.e., at what point the absences that are normal in a season (and which every club have to deal with), deteriorated to a point where "all the injuries" can be cited as a reason for poor league performances. For me, the first game of the "all the injuries" period is Southampton away, where we fielded the following team: Forster, Udogie, Gray, Dragusin, Spence, Sarr, Bergvall, Son, Maddison, Kulusevski, Solanke.
The previous league game had seen us field the following line up: Forster, Udogie, Van der Ven, Romero, Porro, Kulusevski, Bissouma, Sarr, Johnson, Solanke, Son with Maddison, Dragusin, Spence, Werner, Gray, Bergvall Reguillon, Lankshear and Austin on the bench.

Prior to that game VDV and Romero had both missed the previous 3 fixtures but otherwise we had pretty much a first XI type squad available outfield wise.

If I go with Southampton away as being the start of "all the injuries" our record to that point was:
DWLLWWLWLWLWDLL
P15 W 6 D 2 L 7

If I go with it being the four fixtures prior its
P11 W 5 D 1 L 5

So you're still dealing with a situation where you're losing 50% or more of your games with a relatively fit squad and you're already way off the pace of the top 4.

The run of fixtures after the above was as follows and really cemented the "league written off" narrative (once we beat Brentford to effectively make us safe from relegation barring a disaster). The reason I want to put the teams we played here is i really want you to ask yourself whether these results would have been any different had we had our relatively full strength squad out (it was a very tough run of fixtures):
Southampton (A): W
Liverpool (H): L
Forest (A): L
Wolves (H): D
Saudi Sportswashing Machine (H): L
Arsenal (A): L
Everton (A): L
Leicester (H): L
Brentford (H): W

I'd say there's a very good chance we come out of that run pretty much where we ended up (maybe a few points better off) regardless of the injuries....
....so no, I very much think it does stack up. Even before the injuries we were falling way off the pace setters in the league and I think a critical and honest lens tells me that given that form and the above run of games that we'd have landed at that Brentford game at best 4 - 7 points better off had we had everyone available.....and i think he'd have been sacked during that run given the previous second half of the season form.

The injuries gave him a stay of execution IMO of "we will kick on when everyone's back" and then when they were back the "we will throw the league to focus on Europa" gave him a further stay of execution.

I know that was tongue in cheek, but our squad is a million miles from even doing fairly well in the CL. I am a believer that we should try and win every game, NOT sacrifice one thing for another. I refuse to believe any player is incapable of playing two games of football a week, and I won't accept the excuse they are tired.
The 'veryold in your username translates to your sports science knowledge as well I see.

Exactly. If Ange is sacked, it won't be because he deprioritised the league. It was the very fact that the league campaign had become meaningless so early (allowing him to deprioritise it) that will be the reason...

As I said previously, I see little point in discussing/dissecting what went down before May 21st. Reason being if we were making a decision on Ange on 20th May he'd be gone with very little argument.

Some new evidence has come to light on the 21st May that is submissible in the defence for him to stay. Mostly consisting of mindset/belief shifting as a result of winning. Experience and achievement can make you stronger. That's all one needs to focus on (as that's all he has). Does that outweigh all the pre final evidence that would have 99% got him the sack?

(That 1% is Tommy;))
