"Guaranteed goals" is a loose term. Nothing in sport is guaranteed. Kane was a generational talent for us and a huge loss.

What i would say is that in his later years with us (and for England) he was noticeably less mobile and less involved in the press and this did start to harm us, particularly in our attacking play.

Nuno's early performances were promising with a mobile front 3 of Son, Lucas and Bergwijn. They moved around a lot and made not only Nuno's "defence first" system vaguely watchable in those early fixtures but caused teams problems on the break so they didn't commit too many forward to press our low block.

It just never looked right once Kane came back in. Whether that was partly down to Kane's mood following the failed transfer to City which spread through the camp or other factors, Kane's return to the team just kind of seemed to spark a doom spiral that led to the quick sacking of Nuno and installation of Conte....

Yeah, I agree.

It's probably been done to death, but I had a massive downer on the players for the way they treated Nuno, one in particular. There is a significant unprofessionalism about turning up a week late to pre-season and then visibly not complying with what your new manager is asking you to do. That is after a pathetic effort levels wearing the 3 lions. I remember Walker losing the plot with him at Wembley when I was sitting behind our world class RB. I watched all our home games that tournament and was left so frustrated with him.

I don't want to do that debate again though as the "Kane can do no wrong" collective is not as dissimilar to those whose who think that "Ange can do no wrong". It all feels actually quite familiar.

I can see the good and bad in both guys and have always called it out objectively as I do every other manager and player.

I’m not talking about academy kids, i’m talking about the 11 who played when our “best” players were out injured. Yes some of the first team were still playing, Porro, Sarr etc but the teams we were putting out should have done better. Under a coach with a plan and tactics i feel the second string team are good enough to finish in the top 10 this season. It would have only been an extra 18 points to achieve this, very doable for our back ups and a couple of kids sprinkled on top. We finished 17th because the tactics have been found out not because we chose to throw those games like people seem to think we have done.

It's definitely a well documented concern of mine that it doesn't take too many personnel changes for Ange's tactical system to fail. I was hoping that given as long as 2 seasons, that the 80% rule would apply meaning most players can slot in and pick up the tactics. The rest, e.g. a newbie like Danso, would be on a different learning curve with regards to it. This is especially important when you think about Ange's desire to play all these very tight offsides, especially in the deepest areas of the pitch.

There is definitely something missing in the attention to detail in the coaching.

Agreed. For large parts of this season it was approximately 10 fit first team players.

I don't think you're really factoring in the ramifications of your imagined reality where everything goes the way you reckon it will. You can state that you think the second string would finish 10th as many times as you like, it won't make it a vaguely reasonable / plausible statement. It's fair enough if you think Ange should have got more out of the players who he had, there's a case to be made there.

To suggest Ange is a man without a plan or tactics is a strong shout considering there's concrete evidence of us actual winning a competition whilst being led by him, that doesn't undo the disappointment of the league but I'm not all too fussed on that myself. But I am one of those who would absolutely have taken 17th and a trophy, especially against United in the final! It would have been so sickening to lose against them whilst being predictable but we chose to write our own script. I'm still yelling champions of Europe when I see fellow Spurs fans, what's there to yell about from finishing 4th/5th to play with the big boys for a while.

All if them have us competing for Europe next season with the squad we have. Ange will be here for 2 months, get sacked and we will be trying to get one of them in without an pre season etc and its then back to square 1 with another season wasted.

If you have the winning lottery numbers, do share!

I have a feeling he is staying, it would have been done by now if he was getting the sack.
That's my thoughts.

Makes me feel a bit sick the thought of him staying but half the fan base seem to love him for winning what was a pre season level tournament.

Think we have to watch him get us relegated sadly. But at least half our fans will be happy.

We don't have any tactics

Still don't see it

If he was staying, the PR value of just backing him now, a week ago, whenever is way better than the current speculation noise being generated.

Gut feel is, it's timing around broader club changes (CEO/board/DoF) and actually having a replacement (no fudging way are we firing him without having an immediate/within 24 hours announcement of who takes over)

Totally agree. For me, if he stays now it’s because the board feel they haven’t been able to attract anyone they want more. A quick leak to a friendly journalist would kill all noise immediately were they definite on him staying.

How do you back him as a club ?
The club literally have to say nothing if they aren’t sacking him
That’s the right thing to do

Agree. The signal being sent is that he’s hanging by a thread.

I don’t think so in this case. He was 100% gone if we lost the Europa final. The club needed to make their support clear and the lack of some strong indication is damning.
