You are obsessed.

Yes we won a trophy. Great for ange. Great for us. But if that was how we play against a team near the bottom of the prem. You are mental wanting another season of that.

The way we won it last night was the best thing about it. We killed the game. With our creative players injured it was what we had to do.

I hope everyone can just enjoy the next few days. The debate about Ange’s future can wait.

Something a few of us have been trying to say for a while is that circumstances and context have not always been applied. It was pretty clear that come February, he was plotting the path of least resistance to the biggest potential reward. It was also clear that in Europe he was doing one thing, and in the league another. He certainly took a gamble. It was interesting to see him confirm that in his post-match presser, indeed, it adds greater context to the way the season has panned out. What is crystal clear is that the main people who counted -the players- never once lost faith in him, and he didn't lose faith in them. It has been a superbly unified effort.
Steff I love you as a poster but I’m afraid that’s far too simplistic if you are making a decision about his future. The style we adopted in the UEFA cup is so different to what we’ve done in the league and from his preferred style that how can we possibly know if he can be a success in the league next season? Where has he shown a middle ground style that can combine both attack and defence? Rather, he has shown he can do one but not both. It’s why I was saying the league games were not dead rubber as many were claiming. They were for him to show he could embed his style.

Look for all my negativity and I still feel a lot of it was justified, I loved yesterday and I realised seeing the players how much faith he has shown in a lot of them. He has also given us a wonderful moment in our history. I thank the man for that and I’m warming to him. But he still hasn’t convinced me he can be successful in the league. The man is a bloody enigma. But one I have more respect and affection for this morning.

Today isn’t the day for decisions on Ange in my book. I’ve been frustrated with him from the start and said he’d never win anything here. I still think he should probably go but I was wrong about him winning something so maybe I’m wrong about firing him too. Either way, today I don’t care and I probably won’t for a few days.

We fudging won again. 17 poxy years but we’ve only gone and done it…

In his post match interview he said it was decided in January they would be going for the EL. And he said he has always been more pragmatic in cup competitions and was the same in Caraboa Cup because they are decided by moments. You are right, he is an enigma.

I really did think he was done here, but seeing how he talks about the club is quite impressive at times....

To be fair to you Deano you wasn't exactly wrong. You said we wouldn't winning anything playing the way we do in the league and we didn't play that way to win this competition. However as I said above was interesting to hear Ange say he always plays more in that way in cup competitions....

Still haven't really changed my opinion. It's all very well saying we were focusing on the cup, but that doesn't explain the tactical variance between Europa and the league.

I always maintained he just needs to make some defensive adjustments, and that he has shown that he can. He just doesn't in the league. Nothing since he says we've been focusing on the cups points to him playing more pragmatically in the league, which is a shame.

Fudge me, we had zero creativity in midfield with no Madder, Kulu or Bergvall. Ange got his tactics spot on for this one, it was never going to be particularly pretty and in case you haven't noticed most finals are pretty dour.

There was nothing to criticise about last night, it was great....

Much as I dislike the phrase a cup final is "a must win game" I couldn't tell you what the other finals in this competition were like only some of the winners, as in life they get to write the history. I think that's our third 1-0 winning score in a final and the previous two were forgettable.

Whenever the Ange conversation is to be had, a big part of it will have to be about the unity and togetherness he's so clearly instilled in the squad. The players genuinely seem to love him and have belief in him, and want to fight for him and each other.

How him leaving could impact the squad unity, especially after this win, has to be addressed in a decision about his future.

But that's for another day.

He’s always been honoured to be here and I much prefer that to Conte and Jose who have spoke disparagingly about us to varying degrees

He’s also been game for giving our youngsters a chance. As rough as it has been we have had some youngsters start to find their feet and (although maybe accidentally) Spence emerge to get game time

I think we could do much worse

Beautifully said Steff

I have reflected on it and you just can't sack him now.

Given the monkey off our back and all the negative PR thats now in the bin from the "they never win" "sexy" etc, we would just go back and open up wounds that would be "Spurs win and sack a manager after 17 years without one..............sexy"..........or the like.

I have serious doubt about his long term potential, that does not change, but thinking about the ridicule in the world of football should we sack him this summer..........it would outweigh the win

I’ve said it all along: he must stay. The bloke knows how to win. He’s shown a completely different side of his football. We’ve got the trophy monkey of our back. Now we have the perfect platform to build for a few years.
I think your insane. I'm glad we won but we beat the poorest Man u side in living memory and the other teams we beat on the way to the final were no better.

If he stays that Europa win will cost us far more then it gave us because he would complete the job and get us relegated.

He has proven over the last year and a half he can not manage in the premiership. I get he is a fellow Australian and managed in Japan where you live but take that out and just look at the results and how we have played. Take out the personal liking you have for the man, he simply is not good enough.

I enjoyed last night, but I despise him and his arrogance and what he has put us through the last year and a half.

No way he gets sacked this summer. He will go in to next season our manager unless something crackers happens. You don't curb momentum. Let's how he he starts and then he's back under the same pressure as any other coach.

The only momentum we've got is towards the championship. He's been an absolute car crash of an appointment. If he survives this month, he'll be gone by the first international break in September and we'll be in interim land again.

The only thing that's changed is we'll phrase his compromise agreement more in the realms of mutually agreed/end of a journey etc.

So your basing your decision on whether to sack him off of the media reaction. That's truly pathetic mate, Levy needs to do his job and actually grow the football side of the club and you can't do that with this manager in charge.

The clever clubs don't keep a manager who losses 19 league games. Hell even relegated teams don't keep their managers.
