***OMT*** Tottenham Hotspur v Man Utd*** Europa League Final Wednesday May 21st, KO 8pm

I don’t trust the data
I think it getting wingback mixed up with right mid
He played right wingback at sporting
He played there in that role against us

When attacking, a wing-back IS part of the midfield! In fact, it is a position which requires versatility and knowledge of several positions.
He has never been an orthodox right-back. The single biggest question when Ange arrived was how he would fit in a 4-3-3, as it was assumed he'd have to be more defensive. Indeed, there is some argument to say that with the amount of balls in behind him this season, it has been an observation worth heeding.

You can dispute the data all you want -and disagree with the suggestion- but park definitions aside and tell me that you cannot see any merit in playing him in a more advanced, creative position in order to give us a little extra in that department as well as ask questions of both Utd and a manager who knows him.

No I can’t
It would mean dropping out top scorer for a start which seems odd in a team that would need goal at least
And I wouldn’t call a wing back a right mid or a right back or a right wing
It’s a unique position on its own in a certain set up
We never called Danny rose or walker left mid or right mid when we played 3 CBS

Yes, it is a unique position. I think it sets him up well. Would you trust Odobert in midfield? Would you trust Tel in a hybrid '10' role? And no it does not mean dropping our top scorer, how are you concluding that? In the side below, the right would actualy be very very strong, providing again that Ange plans on not galavanting his FBs (which he hasn't in Europe). I think it'd also give Utd a lot to think about. Unless he is planning on starting Sarr to follow Bruno all over the pitch, I think it could work well.

Vicario

Spence
Romero
VdV
Udogie

Porro
Bentancur
Bissouma

Johnson
Solanke
Tel/Son

subs: Kinsky, Sarr, Moore, Richy, Odobert, Davies, (hopefully) Bergvall, Danso, Gray

p.s. if you recall, Poch actually ended up playing Rose in midfield a few times. It isn't as outlandish as you seem to think, and given the balance we need to find between being solid a la Europa form and finding some creative connection from front to back, it could be a move worth making.

I'd much rather have Sarr, Richy, and Odobert off the bench.

Still, it's all academic. We are fans and they are professionals who know the nuances vs the risks...it will be Sarr/Bents/Biss won't it?!!!!

He played rose in midfield when we were ahead in the last 30 nins
He also started his career playing in midfield properly
It will be IMO, bissouma with Bents and Sarr head pressing
That’s how you rattle united
Against West Ham that free pressing role was Wan Bissaka and he ran riot because United can’t adapt to being under pressure

Oh and I’ll add that Spence has lost it… seems to have retreated back into his mind palace that he is now back up and he also IMO isn’t as affective on the right

So you absolutely would not countenance a move like I suggested? This has become a really interesting discussion for me, not so much because it's about rights and wrongs (obviously there are none) but because it feels you would not trust Porro in any sense to take on such a role?

No I would weaken the defence for the sake of another issue
I think the defence will be needed to do their job

He certainly tok a holiday against Palace but he is a really good player that I'd trust to step up in a position he plays well.

Fascinating.
As a unit I agree that back 5 are great, however Maddison, Deki or Bergvall being fit are massively important in that equation for me; we need someone in that three who can create/find a pass/is both robust and creative on the ball.

Interesting discussion...all we need now is a pint and some crisps!!!
