Waiting in for deliveries

Crawley

Board Legend
When you've ordered something, and you get the dreaded...."will be delivered between 7am and 7pm" message, who exactly gets the items at 7am?

Because i certainly don't. Two days in succession waiting for stuff (flat-pack that needs building), yesterdays turned up at about 3pm and took until 6.30 to build. Todays........christ knows, but it's holding up everything else I'm waiting to do.

Would love to know if anything actually gets delivered before 9am

Size permitting - why don't you have it deliverd at your workplace during office hours - most courriers down here only deliver on week-days between 8-5 so even if you pop out for lunch and they arrive, one of your colleagues could possibly sign for it.

I ordered some clothes from mandm direct yesterday, received a text this morning saying it would be delivered between 11:12 ans 12:12 by interlink, it arrived at 11:45. I was suitably impressed. Why cant all mail order places do this?

In this day and age, delivery companies cant tell you when a parcel is going to be delivered, tremendous isnt it

I've started choosing dpd as the courier when I can as the seem to be one of the only ones that give a decent (1 hour) delivery window.

Some of them are ridiculous, yodel once gave me a 72 hour estimate, and then when I wasn't in said I had to collect it from a depot about 40 miles away.

as long as what i ordered comes in one piece, im happy

I'm waiting in for an engineer to come.. they said between 9 and 1. Just rang up to say where is he and they said 'well it's only 12.55 he may be stuck in traffic but you should wait a bit longer'. When I said if he's running late why doesn't he ring to let me know? they didn't know what to say...idiots.

Only plus side is I can say to work that i'm "working from home" lol

I have a concierge that signs for everything from 7am to 7pm, which is pretty mustard. But it does mean i cant have days off to be at home to wait for something to be delivered. Even sofas he will sign for and keep in a room until Im back from work.

Wasn't a BT engineer by any chance was it?

It was a big fudge off lump of furniture. Bloody heavy. Don't think the package would even have fit in my car.

It arrived at 2.45.

I've just finished putting it up. Was a bloody fiddly exercise, and the instructions were (Google) translated from German.

Apparently, I must only attach it to a "massive" wall with the supplied bracket and screw. Hope the wall its up against now is massive enough.

So here I am, awaiting the next delivery (also furniture).

Last night, i worked a 12 hour night shift, no sleep this morning as it is supposed to be delivered between 8am and 11am.

They ring just before 9 and say...."half an hour away". Cool. Stay awake.

Ten minutes later, they ring again.........."er, we've had an incident in the lorry and are awaiting recovery. Don't know when (if) we will be there now".

FFS
