TV Beds

Spursman

I need a new King Size bed and decided to get one of those TV beds!

I found a good deal, its costing £850 with the mattress which sells for £480 separately so its a very good mattress. Most deals i have seen are £999 without the mattress. I have not committed to buying it so i can change my mind.

Do you think they are a good idea?

only con i can find are that if you aren't in bed then you cant see the tv as apposed to it being on the wall. The max size of the TV is 32inc which is ok if you are in bed watching. They are just as stylish as the normal beds.

Anyone got one?

Mate thats so cheesy haha - like a **** movie eh

I think just get a normal bed and put the TV up on the wall - much better and can see it at all angles.

I like things in my house that are a bit different from the Norm. I dont watch much TV in my bedroom apart from when im in bed. Plus im renting somewhere until i find a house. Who knows if my future house has a decent wall to mount a TV.

Don't buy a system where it's all in one like that - you don't want to replace your bed when your tv goes out of date in 2 years.

You can buy a frame that slides under the bed that takes any standard tv - that way you can replace it without issue.

What sort of frame? do you have any examples?

The bed holds any Tvs up to 32inc, ive seen some people put thin 40inc. The bed somes with brackets for the TV, i can replace the tv when i want.

Personally I'd not be too worried about future proofing if it were me. It's the second tv and actually these things would be alright for probably ten years.

It's the potential for it to break down id be worried about, and having to replace it. Would be interesting to see the repair costs for the tvs that aren't replaceable

They are expensive. Might as well just go for the tv bed. I can change the tv when I want so shouldn't be a problem.

Need to find out about guarantee for the mechanism that elevates the tv

me and the wife looked at those, in the end we decided it was only a matter of time before we forgot to put the tv away and I kicked it in

didn't ever get round to putting the tv on the wall in there either

£500 for a mattress? Do your research mate because that not a lot for a good king size. That said, depends how much money your back needs spent!

And it would be annoying if youre watching tv getting frisky then oh wait - gotta put the ****in tv away then bang the moments gone.

On a separate point, is anyon ehere taller than 6ft 2? I ask because more often than not most beds are just too short so I have my feet ****in hanging ont he edge or rather hitting the back board at the end of the bed .ANNOYING AS ****

Could be worse, your big toes could be obscuring the subtitles all the time like frickin East Stand pillars

I'm only 5ft 7 and Mrs is 5ft 2 so size is fine.

Wouldn't have to put the tv away before sex

Can be spending that much on a mattress. It's a 2000 pocket spring one. Very comfy when I tried it.

Be careful when running wires/cable/Sky that they aren't trailing over your room. That put me off of buying one

Proper short **** munchkins haha

Surely you've heard about the architect who had his house made backwards so he could watch the television ?

... say it aloud if you don't get it.

Yes and yes. I find short blankets more annoying. If it's a bit chilly I'd like to pull them up to my chin without exposing my feet. The industry standards are no good for people above 5'8. The average height in industrialized countries must have gone up quite a bit since they started making beds.

Firstly £480 is nothing for a mattress, so I would be dubious as to the quality of it or how long it would last. Secondly a 32 inch TV only six feet away is very big/very close in my view, so I'd make sure you are actually OK watching such a screen at such close proximity for a reasonable period of time, otherwise if you find it to be not very comfortable then it could prove to be an expensive mistake.
