Tottenham opt out of new F.A. inspired youth competition

I wonder whether this is because although the next gen series is sadly not running this year the rumours of its return next year or a replacement would hinder our progress to play to much youth football.

There's already an Under-21 Premier League and an FA Youth (U-18) Cup & U-18 Premier League for the younger lads.

Having yet another competition for the U-21s would seem a bit much, especially as quite a few of the lads may well be involved in UEFA Europa League & Football League Cup squads.

Aren't Uefa putting together their own alternative to the NextGen very soon as well?
(wouldn't be surprising if it turned out they'd helped spike the funding for NextGen to make things easier for themselves)
