The Limp Struggle to Sneak into the top 4 2021/22

Halfway through the season and we're in 5th. Time to start dreaming again.

Emirates Marketing Project are going to win the league without breaking a sweat (or a striker). How thrilling it must be to be a fan of them.

Liverpool will lose players to the ACON, but it looks like they'll be allowed to keep for their meeting with Chelsea early in the new year.

Chelsea have been stumbling lately and a loss against Liverpool would pretty much kill their title hopes. It could also open up a fight for third place for anyone finding form now.

We're 6 points behind Arsenal with three games in hand, but as fate would have it we're due to play them soon and could possibly go into that match on equal points. Their match against Wolves has been postponed and the only chance they have to add to their tally before facing us is when they host Emirates Marketing Project on New Year's Day. We on the other hand have away games against Southampton and Watford. While I'm more than happy to take any sort of wins, there's an opportunity there to even out their GD advantage. With a little assistance from Emirates Marketing Project of course.

Behind us Man United are lurking. Just two points off and with the same number of games in hand. Looks like they changed their manager just in time.

West Ham have, as expected, started to drop off a little and beyond them there isn't anyone likely to be challenging for more than 6th/7th place.

Difficult to predict both Arsenal and Manchester United going forward. Another false dawn for Arteta and Arsenal or have they actually turned a corner. New manager at United, potentially a lot of progress coming, but still potentially rather than happening.

Expecting Chelsea to get better again.

I think we'll be in for a real fight unless Conte can get us close to title winning form for the rest of the season. If that happens third could be on, but that's a big ask.

End of January we'll heve a clearer picture. Transfers done everywhere and teams will have shown more of what they're capable of (or not capable of).

For now, it's a real fight, every game, every minute, every training session should reflect that. Hopefully the transfer window will also reflect that.

Lets see how they do against City on Jan 1st but I don't think they are anywhere near as good as their position shows
If anything they have learnt how to beat the not so good teams this season, still had huge amounts of luck to win most of those games too

If we can win today, we will be 3 behind them going into Jan 1st games, they have City, we have Watford so quite possibly if we beat them at home on the 16th we will go above them and with 2 games in hand too

Really need our fans to be at the game on the 16th, as we've not had a full house at home in that game since the 1-1 at Wembley 3 years plus ago

It's a strange one isn't it. We've obviously not been anywhere near as good as our position shows over the first half of the season. But after Conte came in we look like we belong.

I have the highest of hopes for Conte, but we're yet to show that we can do this will over an extended period.

With Arsenal if the past under Arteta has predictive value they won't keep up looking good enough. So the question is of they've turned a corner this time or not. I'm not convinced, but I think it's too early to say.

The NLD will be huge. I definitely see the likelihood of us going into that game in a very good spot. But it's still something in need of doing rather than something already done.

Utd don't look like a team. Ronaldo causes them problems as it means a Rangnick team can't press, and also gives problems with where others like Cavani/Fernandes play. Its a collection of individual at the moment, and I think if RR is going to succeed, he needs to sacrifice someone

Agreed, it should be Ronaldo but won't be, thought he was pathetic last night, so petulant, mind you Rashford was total pony too

Yeah, question is if RR can find a balanced, structured team from that collection of individuals. They have some fantastic players so if he does they could go on a great run of form. If he doesn't... Not so much.

Agreed on Ronaldo. Think he ended up costing Solskjær his job (earlier than he otherwise would have). The logical approach is to use him as an impact player and starting some smaller games, but not so easy with the CR7. Perhaps Rangnick has the authority to do that? If not I think balance and structure will be more difficult to find.

You may be right we shall see i guess, but for me they are having a bad run for sure but they are still the best team after City (imo)
There having a run that shows their reliance in certain players to get goals and keep clean sheets
They also look tired
They also have Europe again soon and the world club cup thing

People are getting seriously carried away thinking we can catch Chelsea. They have a way stronger squad than us, we are riding the wave of new manager bounce and they have gone through a tough period, yet even if we managed to win all our games in hand we would still be behind them. We have a top manager for sure, but are going to go through some tough periods - we have a hell of a lot of away games left to play consider only one of Contes six PL games have been away from home.

If we are competing for fourth in the final stretch, we would have done very well….

Agreed. I think its no more than, say, a 5% chance we finish 3rd

Weird that their squad depth hasn’t shined through in the last 5 or 6 games though

It is better to moan aiming low than to succeed getting carried away. And we of Glory Glory have set our sights very low, so low in fact that even glory will have in it an echo of failure.
