1) Last week Norwich got hammered 5 - 1 at home by Arsenal / Chelsea / Swansea / Everton / Margate. This week they turn up against as and start playing like world beaters. Why always us?
Answer: its because the team who played them last week exposed them for the dross they are and put them away accordingly. We, on the other hand, played like absolute drains with zero creativity, couldn't fashion more than one chance the whole game and threw points away against a week team whilst making them look good.
2) Why do goalkeepers always put in world class displays against us?
Answer: brick finishing makes keepers look good.
3) The fixtures always go against us: Arsenal are playing a Man Utd with nothing to play for, Chelsea are playing a Fulham team with nothing to play for blah blah blah.
Reaction: total gonads. This week we're playing against a Emirates Marketing Project with nothing to play for, lets see how that goes. Two weeks ago we lost to the same Fulham with nothing to play for that Chelsea dingdonged the other day. Absolute nonsense. Every team in the premier league is by default, a Premier League team. Anyone can beat anyone and situations etc. go out the window as its just a game of fudging football.
4) Player A mouthed of in the press. Now were doomed, what an idiot blah blah blah.
People seem to think that our players live on planet Tottenham and fly via fudging spaceship down to football grounds to play. All the players know each other, go on internationals together, go to each others weddings, hang out in the same bars. Press quotes are just nonsensical sound bytes demanded by the media that are part and parcel of the football soap opera.
If people think Gareth Bale saying he believes were better than Arsenal fired up Theo Walcott or Monreal or someone into heaving, foaming infuriated revenge machine they need to take a reality check.
What is VERY important is turning up on the day, playing to the best of your abilities and attempting to beat the opposite 11.
IMVHO factors that actually influence football matches are: injuries, formations, decisions during the game (managers, players and officials), the quality of the opposition players / manager and tactics.
Have I missed any more spurious excuses that get banded round here in every OMT? Probably.
