The festive period.

I hope everyone enjoys themselves at this great time of year when we all see more or our friends and family and are often on the roads more then usual and take car to drive sensibly and of course to abide by the drink drive limits. I always think it best to not bother driving if you have a drink.

It can sound like a bit of an old stick in the mud but so many life's have been ruined by poor car drivers that have killed or injured themselves and other car drivers and pedestrians. So of course drink and enjoy yourself but do not forget to think about your fellow man and respect their life as well.

Merry Christmas one and all.

I took the kids for a photo with Santa at the local shopping centre last week. They got given a bag of goodies at the end and instead of saying Merry Christmas, it said Happy Greetings. What a crock of ****. Put ****ing Christmas on there Santa you ****.

And would it kill you to ****ing smile for the photo? Or at least look half bothered? I know you're probably just an alcoholic under that suit and nursing the mother of all hangovers, and probably still bitter that the shopping centre has restricted how tightly your allowed to grab the young girls around their thighs, but for ****s sake it's Christmas. Wheres your Christmas spirit? I'm glad you get paid **** all.

I love christmas period I love everything about it but mainly I have my own little contest going on - I get excited about the christmas sandwiches and christmas drinks at starbucks and costa etc.

SO

I make a concerted effort to try each Christmas sandwich that I find - it turns me on.

So far Prets has been the best but Tesco, surprisingly, havent got theirs out yet - theirs is usually the best as , in my view, they make the best sandwich., The worst has been Waitrose or Eat.

I am sure there are many worse traditions some people have at Christmas, It makes some people go a bit mental ;)

Can just see him sat in Pret, a vacant stare on his face, cranberry sauce running down his chin and an erection...

Literally I mean, gonna have to find somewhere else to buy my bloody lunch now, disgraceful.

(This may not be entirely true)

Waitrose was that ham and coleslaw baguette? Or the turkey and something one?

haha well if you go to the pret in baker street - there is this real cutie where cranberry sauce isnt the only thing that will be dribbling haha.

The wife and I are a little sad that we think this year might be the last that our daughter believes in Father Christmas (she's 9). :(

It will take away some of the magic that has been reinvigorated in us having a young child.

I still like all the gloss and schmaltz though. Putting up the tree together while the open fire is blazing and all that.

Im off ot KL and Oz on the 20th Dec, cannot wait to spend the festive period in the sunshine hopefully watching England winning the cricket !!!

The turkey one. Waitrose, for all the fuss about how great it is, actually does really poor sandwiches.

no way do i agree with that.

Have you tasted their fresh Baguettes? the chicken and pesto one and the mozzarella and pesto ones are two of the best supermarket sandwiches i've ever had.

I love my christmas sandwiches too! My first was from Gregs 3 years ago. Think they kept them going till about mid January. I had one for lunch every day and never got tired.

Then one day I went in and they'd removed it. I knew this had been coming so I wrote a email to someone at Greggs who obviously didn't understand how seriously I took this.

They basically said as much as I may love the christmas sandwiches it would not be appropriate to sell them all year round.

Now every year I eat as many as I can. Haven't had one so far though, spent all my student loan so gotta wait till wednesday when I'm back home and working!

Dude youre making me sound weird - I want nothing to do with this guy here - please everyone - do not associate me with him.

Mate - I think theyre awesome personally. Apparently im not the only one - on google they ****in do christmas sandwich reviews etc - so it must be a 'thing'

Greggs came on top of a list but M&S do a great one. Tesco finest is still by far and away the best

 It's not that weird that I became a sandwich rights activist (A sandwich is for life, not just for xmas!)

I'll have to try them out. I think subway should do some sort of christmas sub whilst we're at it as well

I find subway MEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Its just extortionate pricing for what you get.

Try the tesco and let me hear your feedback

M&S and Pret is up there. Waitrose is **** as ****

Xmas adverts on the telly from early Nov can **** off.

All the 'indulgent, sumptuous, exquisite' banquet food ads can **** off. Encouraging people to spend what they don't have on stuff that will get leftover... A lot of it anyway. It's all processed crap, M&S this, Waitrose that - **** 'party' food no better than microwaved meals that most wouldn't be seen dead buying. Pseudo-aspirational bull**** food-****. Go and cook something.

Suffice it to say, I am it yet feeling Christmassy. Maybe I just need a break. Usually I enjoy it but just not feeling it yet.

I'm hating more and more the consumerism. There seems to be a compulsion to outspend year on year. I think we should be looking inwards more, outward less. Spend more time, less money.

Looking much forward to it myself! Going to London with a friend to see my 10th and 11th game at the Lane (against Stoke and WBA). My record at The Lane so far reads 9-0-0, so let's hope it continues. ;) Will stay well clear of the busiest streets of London though, absolutely hate shopping. Will definitely be on the lookout for a decent club happening though, and hopefully drop by a few record stores as well.
