Wonder what the reaction would have been if he had of said Paella instead.
It depends really, in America it's seen as a negativestereotype for African Americans; in Europe I don't think such a stereotype exists. You can see however why Americans would take offence to this.
Yeah but I bet Tiger likes Fried Chicken.. like saying to me.. fancy coming over for a Roast from someone that's not white British. Why would I be offended by someone saying they would cook for me something they think I will like. Or is it the paranoia from yesteryear where it has been used as a racial slur previously means you cannot use that term. Well I say fudge off to that. I honestly think Sergio Garcia was extending an invitation to cook a meal that Tiger might like. If people are offended then IMO they need to get over it.

So was:
"You pat him on the back and say congratulations and enjoy it and tell him not to serve fried chicken next year. Got it? Or collard greens or whatever the hell they serve."
a bit racist? Or just Fuzzy having a friendly guess at what Tiger might like to eat?
I don't think Garcia's a racist, for what that's worth, but he should be bright enough not to make a comment like that.
I think people are bright enough to not take everything people say and twist it into something racial. Its like - are we even allowed to say anything at the risk of being accused a racist? Black people do like Fried Chicken and so do White people.

I think Sergio knew what he was saying when he said it. It's not the same as inviting an Englishman for a roast or an Italian for some pasta.
Regardless, I'll just leave this here.
There's nothing to twist though DHSF, he said it because it's a racial stereotype, to get a laugh. He wasn't inviting Woods round for every night of the US Open to enjoy a Family Bucket.I think people are bright enough to not take everything people say and twist it into something racial. Woods' ethnic ancestry is from all over the shop. The inference is that of course he likes fried chicken, he's a black guy.The Caribean culture like fried chicken, same as they like their jerk chicken or rice and peas. It should be somthing they are proud of because go to places like New Orleans and you will find some of the best chicken culteral influenced dishes the World has to offer.
