So you think the criticism Poch got last season over fielding a weakened side in the FA cup will make him take the competition more seriously this? I hope so.

Our squad is a lot bigger and with better quality than Sotons last season. Would think winning EL is also a priority, being that the winner qualify for CL next season.

I'm not sure how seriously we'll take the Capital One Cup; I'd like to think we'll get a draw that lets us do some rotating of the players and give some youngsters a run out, while still progressing to the point where it poses a serious dilemma. Silverware is silverware after all, and if you get to the quarter-finals then you need to start taking it seriously in my view.

But - and I know this is probably just the sentimentalist in me - I'd like to think every manager who joins Spurs understands (or is made understand) the special place the FA Cup has in our history; and that (in my old school opinion) makes it a priority every season. I'd be very disappointed if it's otherwise.

Also, Levy is a shrewd guy. He knows it's in his best interests to keep the fans onside, and he knows a league title is probably a few years off - barring a major upset. So the next best thing would be an FA Cup to parade down the high street next to the scaffolding surrounding our half-built stadium. I was going to say you can't put a price on that kind of publicity for the club. But actually I suspect you probably can... in terms of increased sponsorship revenue and maybe an extra 10% in the Naming Rights deal...? You can put a price on it, and someone down in accounts already has done. If an FA Cup win is not a priority for Levy, then he's not the businessman we all know him to be.
