Prescription drugs

To the mods I did not put this in the vice den as I am talking purely about prescription drugs.

Has anyone ever used Valium?

1) Did you get any side effects?

2) While on it were you able to drive competently?

3) Did you find yourself getting reliant or addicted to it?

4) Did it solve any of the issues you had which was the reason for taking it, anxiety, irregular sleep issues etc?

Serious case of cotton mouth. Drive? not a chance take a blue and my legs go to jelly. Never got reliant on it imagine if you did be pretty bad tho read up about it once Valium addiction is serious and withdrawal is supposedly as bad as heroin cold turkey

I used to have something of an issue with benodiazapines so know what I'm talking about.

1) Nothing overly bad
2) Very low dose maybe, but generally absolutely not, particularly when first taking them.
3) You will absolutely get addicted to them if you take them on a daily basis for a few weeks.
4) Yes it will solve your problems - anxiety/sleep - for a temporary time, but you will have to take ever increasing amounts, and when you try to stop you will experience severe withdrawal symptoms and the anxiety/sleep problems will be a 1000 times worse than you experienced before. At this stage you will have become an addict.

I'd advise you not to take them and see your GP about other possible medications or treatments that might help you.

Yeah I am not taking them just interested in some aspects of this discussion, what was your cognitive ability like while taking them, could you function to the same standard as before or was there a noticeable difference decline in your mental ability and how long did it last.

My Dad was hooked on Valium for most of the 80's, originally prescribed to help him sleep. He ended up not being able to sleep without popping about three tablets. Be careful.

I take them for my back and have been taking them on and off for 16 years - I last took them in November and was taking them for a month but the last time before that was about 5 years previously. I have no problem with withdrawals or anything like that but I do have to take three times the prescribed amount to get the effect I need. I explained this to my go and he says whatever works for me. I wouldn't drive on them but a couple of bevvies helps...
