We should be able to beat Villa a with a backup team, we have plenty of talent in reserve.

I'm leaning towards wanting a loss. Knocking out Leicester last season put us at a disadvantage, not to mention having a replay.

Similar to the Gillingham team (with Kane and Alli on standby in case it goes pear-shaped):

----------------Vorm

Trippier---2CV--Wimmer--Davies

--------Winks----Sissoko

Son---------Onomah---------GKN

--------------Janssen

Subs: Lopez, KWP, Walkes, Edwards, Alli, Harrison, Kane

No way - the most important thing in this team's development right now is to win some silverware.

Winning this or the EL is the next big step for this group to take. Only the Ajax trio (8 leagues 3 cups combined) and Lloris (1 cup) have any serious medals; and that applies to Poch too.

We have to play a strong enough side to still keep this comfortable.

This competition is completely pointless beyond match practice for fringe players, but we don't have a big enough squad to leave our 13-14 best players at home.

This, with Dier on the bench as he can cover multiple positions, instead of Walkes or Edwards

We should try to win this. Play the second string (and first teamers who need game time) up until the semis, then bring in the first team (subject to EL involvement).

  • Semi-finals 22 and 23 April
  • Final 27 May
EL dates:
  • Quarter-finals 13 and 20 April
  • Semi-finals 4 and 11 May
  • Final 24 May

Like your team selection, but I think we should ape the new first team formation with three at the back and advanced wing backs :

..................Vorm......................

.......CCV.......Wimmer........Davies....

Trippier.........Winks...Sissoko..........GNK

..............Lamela.........Son.................

......................VJ...........................

This formation plays to Davies strength as a centre back, Gives extra cover to Tripps and CCV and allows GKN to show some genuine wing play. Hopefully, Lamela will be fit enough for at least an hour.

I think we should go all in to win the fa cup. We haven't won anything in ages, and it's there for the taking. Not many matches needed to win, and a lot of clubs not taking it too seriously.

1991 was the last time we won this cup. It's quite unbelievable considering we're one of the very few teams that have stayed in the top division since then. We haven't even been in a final since 1991.

I'd happily surrender a top four finish if it meant us win a trophy.

Get in, I say! Win the cup, win the cup, win the cup!

Broadly agree though dont see us playing such a light weight CM pairing. I think it will be Dier or Wanyama, plus Winks

No chance. The Europa actually means something even if it isn't much.

There are also 9 games to win the EL from here on in compared to 6 (possibly more with replays) with the FA Cup. Plus we have to play Sundays in the EL which puts pressure on us playing catch up as we did last season with Leicester.
