Missed goals

What's the most goals you've missed at a game? My total is 4 all by Spurs. Boxing day 1962 took me nearly 3 hours to get to game and we were 1 up, left about 5 minutes early as we had relatives coming and we were winning 2-0, got home and Dad said its sound like a great game as we won 5-0. Not on TV back then so missed a Greavsie hat-trick.

Our equalizing goal against Mansfield the year we were in the 2nd div. The game was played on a cow field of a pitch and we had started to fudge up our chance to go back up to Ist div. We went 3-2 down ( Daines was at fault fo two of them) and i stormed out of the game just before the last whistle and i heard our fans cheer, i had to climb up a lamp post outside to see what had happend, GHod had hit another. Nearly broke my neck getting of the lamp post.

Went to England vs Spain a few years back at Wembley, Spain were dominating and England were sitting back like you would imagine. Got to half time 0-0 so we went to get a beer and an expensive hot dog. The second half had just kicked off as we were finishing up and we heard a massive cheer, England had scored before we got back out there and it was the only goal of the game.

i used to get taken to spurs in the mid 80s by my neighbour. He used to always leave home too late and we'd sometimes miss the start and he then left the ground early to beat the traffic. Sometime around 1986/7, we played Southampton, missed their goal getting in late and then missed our winner - Nico Claesen I think - so we could get home 20 minutes earlier than we otherwise would have done. I never let the prick take me to a spurs game again

I thankfully missed the Crystal Palace FA Cup goal against us. I was sat in the old ‘away’ section which was allocated to home supporters for the match. I headed down just before half time to use facilities before it got too busy. I heard a muted cheer and so I knew that we had conceded. That was the only goal of the game.

I’m sure I missed a CL goal for us, can’t remember which match. I have vague recollections of it.

Left the Emirates at 4-2 down !!

You know the rest

Got to the tube only for all services the way I wanted being suspended due to somebody on the tracks
Caught a tube the other way so no phone signal until I got to the Finsbury Park overground
Got off the tube up the stairs for my phone to be going mental

Yep 4-4, Lennon !!!

FML hahahah

Ouch.

Not actually at the game but went to the Lane to Watch Saudi Sportswashing Machine v Spurs on the Jumbotron.
Midweek game around '95 I think, got to the turnstiles and the bloke said you may as well not come in we're 2 down already. I was about 5-10 minutes late IIRC.
Anyway paid me money (£5?) and sat in the Paxton and we turned it around to lead 3-2 before Beardsley I'm guessing equalised at the end for 3-3. Cracking game.

Just watched it on youtube, was indeed 1995.
Klinsmann missed a pen to make it 4-2 after Srnicek got sent off, Mike Hooper saved it.
Calderwood was then sent off for 2 yellows before Beardsley equalised.

I was at the Emirates for the 4-4 as well, I'd managed to get a ticket, but it was in with the goons. I also left at 4-2, total misery, I'll never, ever, ever do that again! Tried standing at one of the exit gangways for a while, but got moved on by a steward. Heard a cheer when I got out of the ground and assumed it was a 5th for them. Started walking to Finsbury Park with other miserable Spurs fans, then everyone's mobiles started going off! Just as well I left when I did in fairness, it was hard enough not celebrating Bentley's spectacular!

I did get my late celebration fix a couple of days later, with Super Pav's late winner against Liverpool.

Most goals missed however was Villa at home on the last day in 2014. Didn't get to the ground until half time and we were already 3 nil up, with no further goals.

League Cup , early-mid 80s, evening game, against Burnley. We left at 2-1 with I guess 15 minutes to go as my Dad wanted to beat the traffic. It ended up being 4-1, with two goals in the last 5 minutes.
However, that was 4-1 to Burnley, so missing those final two goals wasn't so bad.

Great thread

I must have missed loads through flouncing out in various hissy fits over the years.

So mine is a close call - the League Cup away game at Burnley about 10 years ago. 3-0 down on the night, and going out on away goals with 2 mins of extra time left and the abuse from the Burnley fans ringing in our ears, we were on our way down the stairwell at their bricky northern ground on a freezing northern, winter northern night, when Pav scored. We ran back up the northern stairs and went mental like we'd retained the cup, which we had for another few weeks.

So, a missed goal but was still technically in the northern stadium, and we did get to see Defoe finish it off.

Also Ben Alnwick's best, worst and only night.

In the north.

My mates wanted to leave e at 4-2 in the 90th minute but I refused. I'd had a few pints and loudly declared that I would never leave a game before the final whistle and how could we expect them to try if we won't blah blah blahdy blah...oh the joy!

You're right that was an awful game, Burnley in 2nd division (proper football) and Robert's scored 2 own goals.
