Levy - End Of Season Letter

PLT

Ryan Nelsen
Notwithstanding that today’s match is an opportunity for a top six finish and European qualification again, I am conscious that on this, the last day of the season, we are reflecting on what might have been.

The new signings in the summer had the effect of raising expectations and we all started the season with high hopes, yet the players undoubtedly needed time to adapt to a new league. We were also forced to make managerial changes, which is far from ideal mid-season.

Such is the competitive nature of the Premier League, no one team can guarantee a top four finish. However that’s not what it’s just about - our sense of falling short, felt by all, including the players, is based on some poor performances during the season and knowing we have not performed at the level we know we could have done. Even in games where we gained maximum points, our football was not always what we have come to expect and associate with our Club.

I firmly believe we have a quality squad with many players from whom we have yet to see their full potential and players who have individually shown great form this season. We also have a healthy mix of experience and youth and over the last two seasons particularly we have seen Development Squad players move up to the First Team and put in promising performances.

Our challenge now is to ensure we are in the best possible position for the start of next season - a season in which we shall look for a new level of commitment and performance from all.
We are in the most exciting, watched league in the world. You, our fans, are our lifeblood and we see a huge increase year-on-year in our supporter numbers. This season we celebrated the opening of our 100th Official Supporters’ Club.

So an increased capacity stadium is also a priority. We are currently waiting for the Government’s decision with regard to purchasing the last remaining property necessary to complete the site assembly. In the meantime the pre-commencement works on site are ongoing and we shall continue to keep you updated.
Tomorrow we host a Testimonial match for one of the Club’s true legends, Ledley King, and we are delighted that the Lane will be filled with thousands of you joining the celebration. With so many former players returning it looks like being a night to remember.

Today, let’s get behind the team as they look to put in a winning performance and ensure we compete in Europe once again.

Thank you for your support this season. I wish you and your families a healthy and happy summer and I look forward to welcoming you back for the 2014/2015 season.

Yours
Daniel

Doesn't even acknowledge Sherwood!

Clearly Levy is not exactly impressed by the "best stats ever" claim of our soon-to-be former manager

Levy needs to question himself more and learn to have a clear direction and plan and stick to it otherwise what happened this season will happen again.

So, our next manager will be one who has history of getting his sides playing good football, and will not be simply based on results.

Otherwise, I think the letter is as good as Levy could have written under the circumstances. He tries to stay on side with the fans which is always important under these circumstances.

I'm sure that he will be issuing another statement where he will be able to thank Sherwood for all his hard work and commitment and wish him all the best for the future in a day or two.

Yep, thats fair I suppose. Back it up with the end of the supply teacher on Tuesday and a new appointment before the players go to the World Cup and I will be happy

Note the phrasing about 'forced to make' managerial changes.
We'll never get absolute confirmation of what happened behind the scenes, but that's a hint right there.

He's certainly written that well, you can sense the professional disappointment.

Agree, as good as he could have written.

not a bad note, no hiding behind misplaced optimism, a pragmatic message to both fans and players, and a good reminder that there is work on the new stadium and fan base that is important work too.

I would like to focus on getting back to the Premier League and after we are there I will definitely agree to sit down and find a solution - maybe we can have a compromise,.

I am not a quitter. I will stay until we get ourselves up and then we will see whether we can work out this colour change and compromise. If we can, maybe I will stay for a long time.

Let us get back to the Premier League first and after we are there I assure fans, the Supporters' Trust and all of them, that I will sit down with them and we will find a solution that I hope will be satisfactory for all - for them and for me also.

We would like to work closely with the fans. We will try to engage and meet as often as we can.

Our chairman (Mehmet Dalman) will have constant dialogue and whenever I can I will join them.

For legal reasons I cannot comment on the detail.

But I'm pleased that finally we have a closure on this matter and suffice to say he is dropping all litigation, all claims against us.

I'm pleased with the result and I'm also pleased that he has publicly apologised. I said before, one day some people will apologise to me for what they have done.

Some people made me out like the villain. I'm supposed to be the Bond villain, but actually I'm James Bond.

We could have it SO much worse.

It's clear he shares the fans disappointment with the season, the performances and commitment and is demanding improvement.

We need a manager who can motivate players to play their hearts out for him, a manager such as Ferguson, Mourinho and Martinez.

Its the LMA awards dinner tomorrow night, so I would expect him to be there instead. Making the most of it.

I was just thinking it might not be tomorrow as any annoucement tomorrow would take a bit of focus off Ledleys night.

Tomorrow should be remembered for the day Ledley had his deserved testimonial, not the day Tim Sherwood got the boot

Yeah, I don't expect him to leave quietly through the backdoor.

We also need a manager that can improve the players we have, both technically and tactically, something our very own resident tactical pygmy is incapable of.
