My current Senneheiser one's have died, any recommendations on a new set to purchase, I'd pay upto £75 for them if good

If you like the sound of Sennheiser, go for them again. Alternatively you can go for the Denon AH-C120. Probably the best non-custom fit earplugs I've ever tested, and I have tested a lot! They are probably still a tad over 75£, but the sound, fit and quality is excellent! They also have a very good damper system that significantly reduces the noise and bumps you usually get from the movement of the cable.

I use Klipsch S4's, I'm far from an expert but they've lasted pretty well over the past couple of years and sound good to me. I remember them having quite good reviews when I bought them

I have the same pair. Highly recommend them.

An excellent earbud for the price...if you wanna spend, go bowers & wilkins...

RHA have a great warranty service too.

i can vouch for that, had to send 3 pairs back though. i'm generally pretty careful with them, and not had any issues with any others. they were the cheaper ones i have though (350 maybe?). customer service is really excellent though.

This thread interests me. Does buying a pair of high end expensive ear buds mean you'll get a better sound from an inferior source i.e. a smart phone? or should you have a better sound source to justify the technology?

You'd probably notice an improvement, but by and large I'd say they go hand in hand, good source and good 'phones = good sound, sort of thing.

As a sound technician and a proper audio geek, it's quit simple: sh*t in=sh*t out. Often good quality headphones will reveal more details and if the source is low quality, a good set of headphones will "enhance" the bad quality.

So is it really worth laying out bundles for a set of buds you will only use on your iPhone?

As far as I'm aware they can. I use spotify and I have that at extreme, but to be fair I can't really tell the difference between normal and extreme!

You won't, not on a set of cans or a home hifi system - it notices as soon as you start putting the sound through a speaker with a greater sound range - like the difference between your phone speaker and you hifi but on a grander scale.

As a dj I can stand there and tell if another dj is using illegal downloads - when they're only listening to it through the monitor speaker they don't think it notices but through the main system it really really does!!!

Ps as a dj there's only one set I'd recommend and they ain't in ear ones... Sennheiser hd 25-1 mkII
