Always knew they were a bunch of no good layabouts and chancers, or labour voters if you wish to call them by their correct name.

Also as IDS the greatest man never to make prime minster says, the welfare bill is still rising here unlike in other european countries. To think when Labour win the next election and they will because the numpties in this country can not take the truth, well after labour get back in this country will have about 5 years before it goes under.

Still by then i hope to be well out of it. Good luck folks.

Forgot to mention the telegrapgh is going to be subscription online so he old leeds was right when he said the times got in there first, you know i miss the miserable aggresive old sod, always found him good for a laugh.

Also coming in is an overall benefits “cap”, which will prevent any household receiving more than £26,000 a year in total benefit payments - a figure set to reflect the average gross salary of a full-time worker. .

I'd be intrigued to know how they arrive at the figure. Are we talking someone on minimum wage crashing the hours in and receiving shift allowances which makes it up to 25k or what? Or do you have to be a William Hill manager as a minimum standard to achieve minimum wage?

Bit unfair to label all of them Labour voters. I can think of more apt parties that Jeremy Kyle wannabe work dodgers would support.

It's the median I believe.

That should have read average wage rather than minimum. And on a pedantic note if it's called the average wage but they base it on the median why isn't it called the median wage, if I recall my CSE Maths from the seventies correctly they're different.

Not really. Mean, mode and median (amongst others reserved purely for stat geeks) are all averages. Using the word average instead of mean is a layman's mistake.

It's no surprise the reporter makes the mistake of not being specific (assuming it is one) as there are very few specialist journalists around now. All the cost-shedding has lead to reporters having to play the expert in fields they are not competent in. Don't get me started on science reporting.
