Going to the Full Moon Party in Ko Pha Ngan Thailand this year. Whilst I am looking forward to the trip and visiting the country itself, I am a bit apprehensive about the trip for a few reasons:

1) Drugs- I've never done anything harder than Marijuana, but the people I am going with have tried almost every drug in the book. Now they are sensible on the whole but when they've had a few drinks I'm not sure they will retain their senses and the laws in Thailand when it comes to drugs are insane. I'm worried just of the thought of someone slipping something into one of my drinks or even getting drugs planted on me.

2) Crime- Never been to Thailand but I've been told it can get a tasty in certain areas.

3) Theft- Pretty obvious one, I've heard people's hotels get raided on the night of the party.

Can someone who has been to the party please put my mind at ease? :)
 
wouldn't worry about crime - just be as sensible as you would anywhere else and you should be fine.

re drugs, magic mushrooms are available to buy at one end of the beach in the aptly named Mushroom Mountain bar - worth a visit even if you aren't planning on taking them as it's set in to the rocks and goes up several levels and gives you a good view of the beach. other than that i would be careful what you buy - mostly it will be snide crap anyway so not really worth the bother - plenty of tales of undercover police entrapping people by posing as drug dealers.

If you want to go to a real party whilst in Koh Pha Ngan let me know and i'll give you the details ;)
 
Yeah I don't plan on doing any drugs whatsoever when I'm out there to be honest Billy. I've heard some of the buckets they sell contain Speed, will the police do you for that kind of thing?
 
I went to Ko Pha Ngan is awesome, but I did go a while ago when it was untapped. Not sure what it is like now but back then we did drugs on the beach and no one was bothered. Everyone was doing it.

One thing is really do make sure you lock your rooms etc and your bags definitely, carry passport all the time.
 
they say the Red Bull out there contains speed but i think that's an urban myth tbh - although you can get pretty ****ed up just drinking it by itself so who knows? :lol: - Red Bull being a key part of a Bucket (1 bottle Red Bull/1 can of Coke/1 quarter litre of spirits - usually local whiskey) these are sold EVERYWHERE and are perfectly legal.

to be honest i barely saw a policeman the whole time i was in Thailand and unless your scoring drugs off locals in the street or at the party you shouldn't really have to think about it, even then a couple of hundred quid and you'll be on your way - should you be stitched up.


how long are you going for/where else do you plan on going?

Going for a week. We also plan to go to Bangkok, Koh Samui. I would like to go to some nice beaches and possibly go to the place where they filmed The Beach. Any tips on other things to do out there?
 
So how much spending money will I need then lads? How much per day? Not gunna be buying much, most of the money will be spent on food and drink.
 
when you said a week, did you mean a week in Koh Pha ngan or a week in total? if not how long in total?

in that case id recommend Bangkok + 1 other (koh Pha ngan) - even that will be tight going as you effectively lose a day travelling to and from Bangkok, possibly more as the island doesn't have an airport and you need to get a boat from the mainland/neighboring island.

Id seriously suggest sacking off Samui, spending the night you fly in in Bangkok, next day fly down to the airport near Koh Pha ngan spend 4 nights there, fly back to Bangkok and have another night before before flying home.
 
Had a fecking amazing time in Thailand! Unreal place. Lots of brits there but wasn't overrun with them and didn't see any trouble whatsover.

So ridiculously cheap! Went out for dinner one night, had 4 dishes, two bottles of water, 4 of us eating and the bill came to £20 :ross:

I swear the fit women ratio was about 90%.

For some reason loads of Canadians flock to Thailand.
 
Thursday night - Flew to Delhi then on to Bangkok, landed at 7pm (Friday) local time.
Friday - Night out in Bangkok.
Saturday - Flew to Koh Samui then got the boat to Koh Phangan. Went out to 7am Sunday morning then out again Sunday night. Did the Full Moon Party on Monday night. Did a boat trip to Koh Tao and went snorkling. Hung out by the pool, met two Swedish guys and two English girls from Shepherd's Bush and went out with them every night. Did the jungle party. Had a Thai massage.
Thursday - Flew back to Bangkok for a couple of nights.
Saturday - Flew back home.

Did you get or give blowjob from any lady-boys, I love lady-boys think there amazing, lets be honest that is the real reason for visiting the tie-land. Heard not sure if it is a rumour or true that the is a restaurant out there where you eat on raised tables and underneath the tables the trannies are sucking you off, would love that such a cool idea for an eatery. When I suggested it to Chichester Council at the last community get together my idea were debunked.

I dont get whats wrong with them matey, would be a great idea, maybe in the grounds of Goodwood house or something
 
So, it's illegal to eat/buy mushrooms in Thailand, but they can sell them in a bar embedded in the mountain?
