Fathers Day

Fathers day today, wil be going to see my dad soon, its sad reading on FB and twitter the amount of people who dont have one, makes me feel even more lucky to have mine

I definately in the past few years enjoy and appreciate spending more time with him than I used to as a youngster, am off on holiday with my parents next weekend and its one of my if not my favourite week of the year spending time with them

NIce tweet from Hudd too and very true - "Shout out to all the single mothers out there who had to act like a father as well as a mother"

My dad passed away 2 years ago and I've disliked this day ever since. Not the right attitude to have but can't help it.

Its natural KD and I do feel for you im the same at xmas as my gdad passed away just before it and its not the same without him

My dad is 59 and pretty healthy so fingers crossed he will be around for quite a while longer

I understand your pain kingdawson my father is still with us but not in the mind sadly.

Got a card and some fruit from the boy(i love fruit) but when i asked him to was the car he just gave me a look and waalked away. Driving all over for his sodding tennis does not seem to count for much i guess.

I thought you were going to say you had son now marky, mind you you would need a wife or girlfriend first for that.

I already took the family out on Friday - it was my dads birthday last wednesday - so two birds one stone.

I have friends who have had one of the parents pass away and it isnt nice at any of those times i.e. Mothers or Fathers day.

Same. 2 years as well.

Hard to dislike the day though when my boys make it so good.

Obligatory Toblerone, bottle of spiced rum, Dan Browns new book and a very nice Under Armour polo shirt.

Thanks boys......(and the missus).

My Dad passed away when I was nine, but to be honest he wasn't up to much as a father prior to his death. I wish my Mum a Happy Fathers Day instead :)

Hope any of you that are fathers are having a great day.

Best day of the year for me. My little boy makes it so. My dad was never a dad to me so can go fudge himself but Father's Day is a special day.

Got my card from my little lady and went to town to buy her little pressies (a punch ball included!) her happiness at gifts makes my day. Walked back from the store in Enfield in the rain with her on my shoulders and both of us singing.

I've always said that if I had to define myself then it would be as a great daddy. I love it too...

Took my eldest to Duxford and spent a great day looking at all the military hardware and airliners. Military vehicle show was on too so loads to see. Was really impressed how enthusiastic he was about the whole thing, asking questions all day. For a 7 year old I was amazed that his interest didn't waiver all day. On the way home he said "happy fathers day Daddy, I had a great time and I love you so much". Then fell asleep, I was a little choked up I don't mind admitting!

Spent the day with my little boy.. its my first year. Had a great feeling all day.. spent the day at Colchester Zoo... nice picnic. Great day.

My dad passed away in Nov 2011 aged 54, but in Jan this year I found out I'm gonna be a Dad myself come September so Father's day this year for me was just really weird. That's the only way I can think of describing it. My girlfriend got me a wee 'Dad to be' card which was nice but I can't help but feel it's gonna be even worse when the baby's here because it will be a yearly reminder that my Dad is never going to meet my little one.

my little girl made me 2 cards and spent the whole day singing happy birthday to me as she assumed the two were the same thing

got a couple if books and some "world beers", lovely day all in all

I got a family trifle all to myself and a pressure barrel for when I eventually get my bottom into gear and make my home brew.
