Cup Final coincidences

For weeks I've been looking at the top of the Championship table and seeing Leicester followed by Burnley has been ringing bells. Just realised that this is because they were the teams we beat in the 1961 and 1962 FA Cup finals respectively. Then, thinking about our other FA Cup wins there is also a pattern:

1901 v Sheff Utd - FA Cup Semi-Finals - almost becoming first 3rd tier team to reach an FA Cup final
1921 v Wolves - League 1 Champions
1961 v Leicester C - Championship Champions
1962 v Burnley -(about to be) Promoted to PL
1967 v Chelsea - PL Champs/European CL winners (shudders!)
1981 v Emirates Marketing Project - League Cup winners (poss PL winners)
1982 v QPR - Champ play-offs - chance of PL promotion (although form indicates otherwise)

That just leaves Nottingham Forest who wont have achieved any success this season.

if there is one thing which ****es me off about our glorious club in the last several years, it is that no-one has taken the FA Cup seriously. Grrrrrrrrrrr!

The point is that 6 out of the 8 teams we have beaten in FA Cup finals have/could all win trophies/promotion this year.
