Christmas Disappointments

El Guepardo

Rafael Van Der Vaart
Ok, so any disappointing things about Christmas can go in here, whether disappointed about the food, the presents, the company or the over commercialism of a religious festival.

For me, I'm disappointed still that the magic feeling surrounding Christmas, which we all had as kids, is no longer there. Christmas used to be the most exciting time of the year, now it's just a regular day set out albeit with irregular occurrences. There's no time of the year that has that magic feeling any longer and in many ways that's sad to realise that life becomes stale, all the exciting things are repeated until we become fed up of them and they become a chore and then when that's true of everything we die!

I have previously considered giving up junk food for the few months before Christmas to see if that helps. That was always a fun element of Christmas, to enjoy foods which we didn't the rest of the year but to be honest, I'm not sure that would make much difference as I'd know that the ban had been self imposed.

Hmm I will add more later but for now I have to go food shopping!

Hehehehe......

Well, I am working today and Boxing Day. But Boxing Day has a load of football followed by 2 days off, so that isn't too disappointing.
My fridge has no beer in it. That's disappointing. Unlikely to change, too. Although I do have a load of Bacardi and some Gin. Again, swings and roundabouts.

I miss proper sausages wrapped in bacon. Chicken or beef sausages wrapped in turkey bacon is some kind of deceitful nightmare than I will not be part of, I'd rather go without than try to pretend this alternative is satisfying. fudge you turkey bacon, you fraud.

That's about it, otherwise it's nice and sunny, there is good stuff on TV and I get to spend Christmas day at home while my colleagues have to go to work simply because I am European and they are not.. faaaantastic. For me this is like knowing it is tinkling down at home while you are drunk by a pool in the sun, which, incidentally, I may do tomorrow.

thanks for the offer but i would prefer something more substantial.

Its not the size of the sausage its all about the meat content. Its 100% grade A pork.

fudgein grrrrrrrrr

I was chattin to a mate this morning and told her that this year has not felt like christmas at all. Its been pretty shocking. The world is broke, brick tv, and the weather is hardly christmassy.

Yeah, i've had better Decembers.

Still, it'll be over soon and a new start in January will be most welcome!

As stated before, I've got to work 12 hour shifts tonight and Christmas night.

So. sleeping most of tomorrow while the family try and keep quiet. Can't even have a drink with my christmas dinner.

And yes, this mild miserable weather just doesn't help. Wish we could go back 2 years to that heavy snow we had.
