Agreed - things are much different now to when there was that glass ceiling between 4th & 5th that we broke through under Redknapp

CL has 2 additional 'group' stage matches from next season i believe, 4 home + 4 away - will be interesting to see if this has an impact on teams who are participating, with there being more teams domestically in with a shout of competing for the CL places then in theory it'll put additional...

In your opinion. Fans are as much a part of the club as anyone else too.

I wasn't supporting us to win the match last night, but i was supporting the outcome that i believed to better all things considered. Being a football supporter/fan isn't isolated to the 90 minutes a match is being played.

Yeah it's not nice having your support called in to question is it? Perhaps you can understand then why I've taken offense to the multitude of posters on this actual messageboard who have been doing so over the last 48 hours towards those of us who wanted City to win? That style of posting is...

No not all and i didn't say or imply that in my post, just that the experience of supporting from afar is different to following in the country/local area - no better no, no worse just different. Surely i don't need to go in to detail about how/why a local rivalry is different for local people...

Yes it does make me laugh that someone can't understand the clear difference between the two experiences - it doesn't say what you're trying to make it say Steff.

Saying foreign fans don't have the same experience of local derbies/rivalries as local fans do isn't denigrating them (or their support) nor is it acting with superiority- it's aknowledging a difference.

For as long as people feel the need to act morally superior for having a different opinion I'd have thought

One point I'd make to the writer is that it isn't just on the outside that we are seeing "a stream of moralistic pious sewage" but plenty taking aim from our own fanbase too

It's an interesting take but not accurate in my experience - similar split in opinions among my generation 40 +/- and my Dads generation 60s-70s from what i saw

I do find it funny when people who weren't at the ground try to tell those that were what the atmosphere was actually like. I also enjoy seeing foreign fans trying to act high & mighty about how a teams local fanbase should feel regarding local derbies/rivalries.
