    26/27 Season Predictions

I'd be happy with a top half finish although I don't think it's guaranteed. Keeping well clear of relegation and having a reasonable degree of confidence that we can win home games will be a good start. I think the season will be a bumpier ride than many predict.

    ***Tottenham v Brentford OMT***

Given the likely team and my feeling that limited 'proper' pre-season matches may have left us somewhat 'under-cooked', I'd be happy with a draw. My expectation is that we will lose today and the world will lose it's mind. We should be strong enough this season not to be anywhere near relegation...

    Roberto De Zerbi *OFFICIAL*

People losing their minds because RDZ dared to utter the trope 'bomba' as if he meant it to be taken literally. He's now had to clarify that 'in Italian' it is taken to simply mean a good player. " .... when asked what a 'bomba' would be in Italian, De Zerbi replied: Tonali, Fernandes, Senesi...

    FIFA: Destroying Football Since 1904

I read this morning that FIFA is sitting on reserves of $4 billion and that recently Infantino was boasting about how it 'earned' $15 billion in the last 4 years. One of the key questions is why Infantino thinks there is a need for private capital to support investment in a business that is...

    Cristian Romero

I like that Romero doesn't let minor issues like being subbed stop him. Substituted after 70 minutes, yellow card 22 minutes later.

World Cup 2026: Mexico, USA and Canada

The Wigan game was brilliant. Total domination of a poor side and an outstanding performance by Defoe. Didn't enjoy the Reading game at all (apart from the fact that we won) - shambles of a game.

    Cristian Romero

It's a bit more complicated than that. I particularly like the bit where we abandoned the islands for 59 years during which time our only claim to sovereignty was that we had left behind a flag and a plaque claiming it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falkland_Islands_sovereignty_dispute

    Cristian Romero

They have a 'right' to advance an argument that the islands should belong to Argentina. From what I've read their argument is not obviously unreasonable or illogical. The problem is that the historical arguments have been cherry-picked by both parties to suit their claims. The right of self...

Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

I did nothing more than read the Wikipedia entry about the Falklands / Malvinas sovereignty dispute and a 19 year old Guardian article yesterday but based on that it seems to me that there is enough in both arguments to conclude that there is no obviously 'right' answer. I don't know how the...

The 'If You Still Need to Purge Yourself Of Ange' Thread

Not sure if they are all current competitions but Al-Nassr's honours list includes: Saudi Pro League (which they won last season) King's Cup Crown Prince's Cup Prince Faisal Cup / Saudi Federation Cup Saudi Super Cup Asian Cup Winner's Cup Asian Super Cup Arab Club Champions Cup GCC Club...

    Luka Vuskovic

I see Brighton has signed Michael Svoboda and recently signed Pascal Struijk - both centre-backs. They already have Lewis Dunk, Igor Julio, Adam Webster and Diego Coppola - 6 centre-backs in all! I wonder if Vuskovic will be calling his agent?

I think we can safely predict it's all going to be Spence's fault.

    Mateus Ferdnandes

West Ham won't want to sell to us if they can help it and given a choice I'd expect Fernandes to pick United.

    Sandro Tonali

We can be as determined as you like but if Saudi Sportswashing Machine won't agree a fee and Tonali doesn't agree to sign for us there is nothing more to be done except wait or walk away. I think that both are waiting for other clubs to make offers. Let's face it, City at least can out bid us and Tonali is likely...

    Ingerlund

The biggest surprise to me so far is that the players who in PL games I really like (Konsa, Anderson, Rogers, Rice) have looked so average. Mind you I seem to be in a minority of one in not getting the adoration of Bellingham so what do I know?
  19. BigChiv9

    Sandro Tonali

Agree. For that sort of money we should be trying to get Bruno Guimares who I think is much more influential.

    Sandro Tonali

It might actually work in our favour as I think the intention was to sell Ugarte. If that's not possible now it might mean that they have less money to spend on Mateus Fernandes.
