I'm sure I read that sleeping in public during the day, coupled with sleepless nights, is a dementia symptom.

Yes terrible. I have seen plenty of very good suggestions over the years, but none have been widely adopted. Kate Raworth's 'donut' is one that comes to mind that had a bit of traction (good book too). I'm sure I was reading a while back about some countries that have gone a different way...

This particular think tank gave the UK trussonomics, and I know ad hominem attacks on it are a pretty lazy argument; still I wouldn't put much credence in what they say. The OBR and Bank of England, however they measure the GDP drag, would be considered more trusted sources I would assume. In...

Debunked by a dark money funded think tank affiliate would not be something I would take as wrote. I don't know how accurate the 100bil figure is but it lines up the obr and bank of england estimates.

£100 billion a year due to weaker business investment, lower productivity, and tighter labor constraints is the bloomberg analysis. Source: Bloomberg.com https://share.google/sPGg3wm6gGHkJN4rG The obr estimate was 4% gdp drag if I recall.

Reversing Brexit is the best thing the UK could do. It is worth about 100 billion a year, according to Bloomberg. Burnham is setting the stage.

I hope city win the league, for the laugh. Ouch. Some miss that from Coventry. That would have sealed it.

I mind Neville. I can't stand his arrogant, biased flimflam.

Something is brewing for sure, but equally, this guy is no Thanos. The helpless feeling is something learned. A tidal wave of crime and impunity prime people for the despair that authoritarians need them to feel. Trump has been cheating in smaller ways this entire election cycle - bribes...

Something wicked this way comes. I just can't see Trump letting things run their course. It is not in his nature. The polls lean so far against him that he'll invoke the Insurrection Act or something on that scale. Something we haven't thought about. Last-chance saloon for American democracy.

    FIFA: Destroying Football Since 1904

Something like this would work far better IMO. It dilutes power and reduces the opportunity for systemic malfeasance. I wonder if a 4 year term, on a World Cup cycle, makes sense for practical reasons or would that just carve the corruption into 4 years blocks. Maybe if the president's role is...

It certainly seems like that. And the Tories in recent years have played a significant part in normalising this type of poisonous discourse. And they are still at it.
