I think we need to be careful with that line of thought. Recruitment is a team sport and the collective should get the credit, not just one person. At the moment we have the Lewis siblings, Charrington, Vinai, Lange, RDZ etc all uniting to create an exciting window.

I'm not sure we need to release them, but I'm all for your setting them free sentiment. We got both for a song, so both should create profit on the books when we sell them.

But you see the pattern right. Someone goads me to comment on Kane and I put up some fair and balanced discussion points. I talk about the grey space and I give some latitude for Kane's age and disposition. I was mostly complimentary but I still get called "binary" because people only want to...

    James Maddison

Madds will be an awesome impact sub even if he's not starting. You have to plan for 16 players nowadays in every game.

Admittedly, I am left scratching my head to Masdueke's inclusion in the first eleven. We always look better with Saka there when he comes on. To your point, I do think you have to isolate it down to every players individual contribution and then look at the joined up pieces to get the total...

Yeah, I have to be careful with Harry because he is untouchable to some and I get stick for daring to be anything but overly positive about him. I always hoped one of the earlier Spurs managers would have got him to address some of the things you talk about. We can all create narratives about...

Yeah, that Romero WC injury scenario could be really relevant to our own summer transfer window. We need him to get fit and stay fit.

lol - waking up with a hangover and just reading this. Games at 5pm aren't good when you're still in the curry house at 11pm. As for Harry, fair play. We were all saying in the pub that he was once again letting the game pass him by. Some were asking for him to be subbed. I get Tuchel's...

You have to do more than financially out-muscle. We haven't got the brand attraction of a lot of these big clubs. We talk like we have but we really haven't. We have to sell the vision based on the stadium, training facilities and being in London....sort of.

All aboard the Alex Scott hype train

Scott was apparently away in Guernsey with Alfie Devine doing some fitness training. They are apparently good mates. Must both going to Preston North End next season.

And there is more than one flight to Australasia each day. lol, VDV and PvH should go and lay on a beach in Thaliand before joining the guys.

    Cristian Romero

Could Man Utd be the surprise club here? I don't really find their current centre halves that convincing. Yoro is clearly the up and coming centre half. Maguire and De-Ligt the orthodox ones whilst Martinez is short but a good player. Utd have CL and are on the incline. They would pay Romero...

Must admit, I have a real hang up of Ballon D'Or. There is just a complete lack of appreciation for goalies, defenders and midfielders. If you're Vitinha or Hakimi, you simply have no chance. It's an award where only attackers can win. I doubt they would make the top 10 list.

    Johan Lange - Sporting Director

I didn't buy into the heavy criticism in January, or even the prior January. We would have had Semenyo if the player hadn't chosen City. Instead we bought a player in Gallagher who played his part in us staying up. Johnson crashed and burned at Palace in the same way he was for us last season...

To be fair, it is a very critical time tactically for RDZ and his players after the early pre-season conditioning work is done. We do need to get off to a fast start in RDZ's new setup and any points lost in the first 5-6 games are massive at the end of the season.

    Aston Villa

Interesting news today about Villa. UEFA have dealt them a big fine and restricted their UEFA squad new registrations. With the age of that squad, I'm wondering whether this little dent in their plans might work in our favour.

I look forward to this news about Fernandes becoming official. It's been bugging me that this thread title has his surname spelt wrong. Perhaps on the official player thread we can spell it correctly. It's like not knowing the difference between Belgium and Holland...

Interesting positioning of Gallagher. I still don't know where he is best utilised. What RDZ did with him at the end of the season playing further forward was pretty effective. I guess he is classed as a double pivot midfielder but do wonder whether RDZ sees him as having good enough ability on...
