    Igor the Interim

I don't know that there's any "obsession," but my own thinking is his recovery pace can still be an important asset, but his poor positioning is less likely to be a problem at LB than CB. At the same time, he also likes to go on forward raids, which he could readily do from there. As far as...

One or two reducers from Palhinha early doors and I'd be surprised if Johnson will be any trouble. ....That said, I've been surprised before.

    'Round pegs in square holes'

It's "square pegs in round holes," by the way (thus resulting in the corners of said pegs getting rounded off, or not fitting at all). Just saying :)

    Remember that penalty against Bentancur...

The greatest lie ever propagated in football: "it all evens out in the end." And that's scarcely been any different, with or without VAR, largely due to the stupid "clear and obvious" get-out clause. Why should questions about fouls in the box have to be subject to a nebulous "clear and obvious"...

After the return of Romero, I would make him and Danso the CB pairing for the run-in. Bin the 3-at-the-back idea and push v. de Ven out into the LB slot, where his poor positioning can do less harm. He likes to maraud forward as well, so let him.

There's no way Pochettino is lumbering himself with this poisoned chalice in current circumstances anyway.

OMT - Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur

It wouldn't make any difference. I don't see anybody getting a tune out of this bunch of abject losers. None of them are as good as they think they are. I was waiting for some sign today that they actually understand the position they're in, that they've taken it on board THEY ARE GOING DOWN AT...

If we don't get at least four points from the next two games, I wouldn't be at all confident we can stay ahead of Wet Spam, the way they're battling, in which case we'd be reliant on Forest or Leeds ending up worse off than us. We'll get nothing at Anfield, PGMOL will see to that.

They certainly do appear to have ridden their luck. They are on between +16 and +20 points relative to expectation, which is way ahead of anyone else (we're on about -5).

Wolves played with the freedom of a side that already knows its fate, while Villa were nervy and crap, just like I imagine we will be when we go there.

A point if we're lucky, making it all the more essential we get all 3 off Palace in the week.

The Overlap - some interesting comments from Ange

It's all ifs, buts and maybes. My own completely untestable view (and I'm not suggesting anybody else need share it) is that if Levy had lost his mind and allowed him to stay on, we'd actually have been in the bottom 3, just as Forest were under him. There's nothing definitive to say that's what...

    Micky van de Ven

He was perfect for the playground football we were playing under the last manager but one, but I don't think his all-round play is the best. He relies heavily on his pace for making recovering challenges, whereas he wouldn't have to do that so often if he were better positioned. Having said...
