Yeah but it was all going to pot with Conte a bit in 22/23 wasnt a good environment to be in and the whole team suffered.

Yeah you know this is a key thing in that injury aside you end up sort of forgetting that Bentancur looked so good pre-injury partly because he had Hojbjerg alongside him allowing him to do the box to box and not worry so much about runners off his shoulder and not losing the ball in tight...

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/08/01/tottenham-agree-joao-palhinha-deal-why-it-is-more-important/ A good write up as to why this is potentially a very good and important signing.

In the Poch era we had a good bit of needle in the team. About time we get it back.

Its something I think we should do more of - explore the benches of elite clubs. Look at Chelsea getting Palmer off City. Sancho was one that got away too (United ruined his confidence)

Yeah if as reported its a loan with option (but no obligation) to buy then its a low risk deal in an area of the squad that needs strengthening with experience while we figure out if Gray is the real deal in that position.

Possibly both. You get a bad injury and by time your fit again someone else is playing well in your position and until such time as they require a rest or form dips to the point they deserve to be dropped, you're not in the team. Not getting a regular start for a team like Bayern Munich isnt...

Excellent business. Was identifying this kind of player as a gap in our squad in the season expectations thread. At 30 and PL proven really strengthens the lack of experience in our midfield too. Will likely improve our defenders and those around him by doing the dirty work so they don't have to.

Friendly match: Tottenham v Arsenal (Hong Kong) 12.30/7.30pm BST/HKT

Positive vibes from that performance. Definitely making moves in the right direction. For first time in a long while felt confident watching us. Was just a vibe of control and "we've got these". Hopefully we can take this into the PL.

Tulip Siddique has been charged with corruption offences in Bangladesh and will face trial. She was the UK's anti-corruption minister until this year.

It really is a difference maker as when you defend well even a great team like them have to think twice and if you carry a threat on the break they cant commit too many forward and suddenly you're in a game - even against a good team. I know its only a friendly but I can see already why Frank...

When consensus isnt going to be reached you need to force the issue. Methodical progress and need for consensus led directly in my view to many of the geopolitical problems in the world today. There has been no sign of a consensus on Israel/Palestine or on Russia/China for decades for example...

Nothing in geopolitics and economics is fully "sorted out". You've got to continue working at things. Even years after the GFA there are still terrorist groups operating in NI with support and funding who don't believe in the peace process. Trump at least is forcing and challenging these...

Well I think its certainly something that can be thrown in there but reality is more about finding a lasting framework that both sides can get behind so while I don't disagree that 1967 borders could be the starting point if Hamas/Hezbollah and Iran could be nudged to a line drawn on current...

    Expectations for 25/26

Spot on is this assessment. Saudi Sportswashing Machine away exemplifies it. Actually dominated them on their own pitch, got it back to 1-1 and you think there will be only one winner - then we play this really weird flat line offside trap when they attack and they just pass it straight through us and rather than...

Yeah you can see that in the friendlies so far. I think we will see some struggles early doors, particularly in terms of attacking as we rebalance but I think he is certainly working on the right area for me.

I think Starmer may have got it just about right on Israel. We need to protect our relationship with the US, but I do think some of the current reports of Israeli conduct in Gaza are beyond the pale. October 7th and the Israeli response must be the end. Two wrongs don't make a right and by...

    Expectations for 25/26

Yeah, my key point is not that I don't rate these players. As "footballers" they are all very high quality. Porro for example has excellent technique. Its just if you ask me to name each of our defender's best attributes, NONE of them would get a tick next to marking, tackling, positioning...
