I'm with you on that one. Richi was knackered and Son started slowly - it was like a switch got flipped and suddenly we were on the back foot without an outlet. Sonny did get into the game, but it took a while.

Plus a Bodo side itching for revenge, in the depths of the arctic winter.

    Ange departs

I think we start the season with our first priority being to finish in the CL places. That doesn't mean throwing CL games, but it means fielding strong teams while rotating key players where possible - or at least, not flogging them for 90 minutes every week. If we get out of the group stage...

    Ange departs

This was a very unusual season, in that it's been pretty clear for a while that relegation would be between four teams. Here's how things looked on 4th Feb: (source: https://www.football365.com/premier-league/table/table-on-this-date) If it wasn't clear then, it definitely was a month later...

    Ange departs

I'd love to see the possession and average ball position stats for the 10 minutes before and after that sub. To me it seemed like a step change -- Son on for Richi (who'd run himself into the ground) and we just lost the ability to hold on to the ball.

    Ange departs

Fair comment. I would have picked exactly the same starting XI, and I was happy to have Sonny, Tel and Odobert on the bench. I was actually pro-Ange until about January, when it became patently clear (IMHO) that his system had been found out and Premier League teams had the tools to break it...

    Ange departs

I'm surprised we managed that many passes. What a horrible game - Bill Nich will be spinning somewhere. But we parked the bus and got it done. Somehow. That there was nothing swashbuckling, or even coherent, about that performance, is the most damning thing about it. Fair play, Ange. You have...

Wow. I didn't dare to think we'd win tonight, and never mind so comfortably and professionally. All a bit weird though. Such a different feeling to that night against Ajax. Maybe there is something in that Ange bloke after all. Although I can't help but feel that playing Bodo away in May is a...

This is what a limited but well coached side look like. It's been so long that we can hardly recognise it any more.

Porro, Spence, and Udogie should all be good options as more conventional wingbacks in a back 5. We'll manage to Spurs it all up somehow though. Sounds like Romero may be off, for a start.

    Jamie Donley

There's no danger of that from me. There's a long way to go from killing it in League 1 to proving yourself in the Prem. I for one hope that the O's get promoted and Donley gets to spend a season with them in the Championship.

It's a start! And I think better than a certain H. Kane did at the same club. He's a kid who's gone from warming the bench to getting a hatful of assists and a bunch of cracking goals in a couple of months. Can't ask for more than that. That includes putting Leyton Bloody Orient 1-0 up against...
