I didn't want Angel, I want Joao.......Gomes. I hope that is the centre mid we buy.

So I'm a sought after 24-25 year old and 2 clubs are interested in me, Spurs and Toon. Which club do I join? Money - I woudl say that there isn't much in it to be fair. I'm probably going to earn very similar salaries at both clubs. Location - London every time Facilities - Spurs training...

    Ange departs

Yeah, the point I keep making, but with the caveat that us fans will never be exposed to the questioning or the answering between employer and employee. It is their private business. We just have to trust the process that THFC will give Ange the chance to continue if he has convincing answers...

Out of interest, are you a season ticket holder that goes to games regularly? I'm unfortunately not but have always had the impression that Brennan's off camera work rate is better than I might see on TV. The point remains though that our current advantage is the collective of forwards we have...

This actually made me chuckle. Never a truer word said.

Yeah, perfectly true. What we haven't seen so often though is a manager that lasts a couple of full seasons and has such depth of squad through significant spend. I'm hoping that we can build a squad that is more interchangeable regardless of manager. Rotation is key to keep a freshness.

    Squad

Yeah, perhaps not the best wording from me. Johnson is involved in the stats that matter. He is currently the difference between us being winners and not. He has 20 goals for club and country this last season. It was Johnson who is on the official scorecard as the guy that got the winning...

It's interesting that so much of the early window news is about wide forwards. I think we may underrate our own. Makes you wonder where someone like Johnson sits in the stats tables for wide forwards.

The levels of assumption are just common sense, as are yours. The original point still remains that we seems to struggle when we make too many personnel changes to the starting eleven. That has been a 2 year pattern and one that hasn't changed that much in the last 6 months. As for this...

    Luka Vuskovic

I think it depends whether Phillips can go on the UEFA B-list or not. I still can't figure that out. If he can then he's an incredibly useful squad player to have. What we do know is that Vuskovic has to go on the A-list and there might not be space. That stops him from being such a useful...

    Ange departs

My concern is if Ange were to get that dreaded vote of confidence. If he is staying, then saying nothing is exactly the right approach. There's other easy ways as well. Just include Ange in some key comms from the club about something completely different. Just including him will send the...

Let's not forget, we rotated on injuries. If I look at what percentage of training session every player has been available in Ange's tenure, I bet there's barely any less than 80%. I would add that just because you've hurt your ankle, doesn't stop you doing upper body training. Learning tactics...

I find the "which type of player should we buy" conversation really interesting. I believe it is a very personal thing. You could have 2 very similar profile players and one will say yes and one will say no. I'm not sure there is a hard and fast science to it actually. It's almost why having...

Am I right in saying he had just completed a season on loan at Saints though? Or was that the season before. I remember Godin formed great partnerships with Miranda and Gimenez and therefore Toby never quite got that Athletico career going. I think Toby was also deployed at 6 at one point.

    Ange departs

It's definitely a well documented concern of mine that it doesn't take too many personnel changes for Ange's tactical system to fail. I was hoping that given as long as 2 seasons, that the 80% rule would apply meaning most players can slot in and pick up the tactics. The rest, e.g. a newbie like...

    Ange departs

Yeah, I agree. It's probably been done to death, but I had a massive downer on the players for the way they treated Nuno, one in particular. There is a significant unprofessionalism about turning up a week late to pre-season and then visibly not complying with what your new manager is asking...

    Transfer thread

Do you know what is interesting about your list? About 80% of them took at least a season or two to blossom. There are very few Toby's in there who came in, slotted in and immediately became one of our stalwarts. The very young contingent obviously took time as would be expected. The...
