    Rodrigo Bentancur

Was hoping he'd grow into that 6 role more than he has this season, perhaps that can still happen, but not looking that likely perhaps. Still very much a player worth keeping. Is doing a job as a 6, but imo a significantly better 8. But don't want him going into next season as our starting 6.

    Archie Gray

Stats are obviously always flawed, but even more so for centre backs. And even even more so for more "passive" centre backs. Probably also not helped but him mostly playing in our worst spell in years and years.

*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Ipswich Town FC ***

For sure our last three league games have not been perfmances that typically would lead to 9 points. Both watching the games and xG tell a similar story imo.

*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Ipswich Town FC ***

I agree that our pressing has room for improvement. I think a similarity with the Poch team is the need for quite bit of emergency and really strong one vs one defending. Gaps being there when the press gets bypassed is for me the norm, but the frequency and size of that happening is obviously...

*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Ipswich Town FC ***

We have 6 players pressing high. The 6 on 4 happens from the time that high press is bypassed imo. You think Bentacur would be significantly better at holding up play at that point than Spence? What's the difference between the two setups if both have the same number of players back there...

    Ange in or out?

I agree the points I made are rather obvious, to anyone still "Ange in". I also think another fairly obvious point is that we need to see an improvement on our consistency from before the injury problems got bad. And not getting another massive injury crisis anytime soon.

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

Just look at other examples of players who clearly haven't been rated by Ange (for his system)... Sanchez, Dier, Reguilon. There's a clear difference. Was always going to get chances and a question of time imo. Was obviously at least fairly highly rated by Ange. That's why we sold Emerson and...

    Djed Spence

Included him. Gave him a new contract. Gave Spence enough of a belief in his future here that he chose to sign that contract. Whatever happened wasn't that Ange just didn't rate him. I think what Ange says makes sense and is the most likely explanation.

    Brennan Johnson

Doesn't matter if it comes playing as a striker or as a wide forward. That ability is just as important. Just like it was when Alli did it playing more as a "10". For sure would be good if he could add other elements to his game and for sure we need options with different qualities. But his...

    Lucas Bergvall

Think this is spot on. Have pointed towards his positioning and awareness as the main shortcomings before as well. Only to be expected from a player that young in his first season of course (to be fair even more shortcomings should be "expected"). Such a well rounded player perhaps difficult to...

    Ange in or out?

To be fair to those who are critical of him or clearly Ange out I think the pressure is very much on him. 3 wins in a row in the league, I think we've been the better team in all three, but not always by much. The pressure is still on in terms of results and we (imo) need to see further...

    Kevin Danso

So far seems just about perfect for us. Has a bit of everything to a good level. Don't think he'll be first choice with Romero and VdV back, but will still get games. And if he keeps performing like this the drop off in quality and key attributes will be less impactful than it has in the past.

    Ange in or out?

We've imo gotten less defensively vulnerable with a bit of a break and some players returning. Still too vulnerable compared to what should be expected in "normal" circumstances. But the circumstances still aren't quite back to "normal". No doubt the system that's gotten us scoring that much...

    Archie Gray

Said it before, but hey... Even an 18 year old CB doing well at this level at 18 is really rather rare. For a midfielder/full back to do well at CB at this level is just about unheard of. In part of course because it's rarely been tried, rarely been necessary as teams typically don't have this...

*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Ipswich Town FC ***

Not sure I understand you correctly... It ends up 6 on 4, because we press high with 6 players, leaving 4 outfield players "deeper". At the time it's 6 against 4 we're in real trouble. No matter how those 4 are set up. What you're describing is a 3-1 setup with Bentancur, Gray and Danso with...

    Archie Gray

He could become a top class player in multiple roles/positions imo. A well rounded and seems to have a very good understanding of the game, able to compensate for his weaknesses already at a very young age. I'm not a believer in a player's technical quality being "wasted" by playing deeper or...

*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Ipswich Town FC ***

Very little to do with "inverted full back nonsense" (first minute chance). We're pressing (gegenpressing) high and the press gets bypassed. Spence being deeper and wide would just leave an even bigger gap in the middle and we'd be in trouble anyway. Tell me about a system that doesn't leave a...

  19. B

    Son Heung-Min

Bit of rest. Players on the bench who can replace him if he tires so he doesn't have to manage his energy levels so much. That's the way to use Son now. And still a very good player in those circumstances. Credit to Son, in recent weeks/months he for sure hasn't been great, but he left...

    Lucas Bergvall

Really good performance, again for me. But one of his best so far. Think he's developing both in his positional game and also making good decisions on when to use his skill and more attacking qualities and when to keep it simple. Absolutely wonderful talent, already a very good player.
