Well the CBs have got through a lot of games uninjured so far. And we have more rotation options at Spurs too.

I am well aware of that. But in both seasons that Ange has been here, our main CBs have been injured early on. That's not just down to the number of games played. And I think it's fair to compare with Bournemouth's CB situation if the proposition is that Iraola's system is likely to give us...

Our CBs were injured fairly early on in the season (as they were last season playing once a week) so that's not really relevant now.

Is it likely that we will win a trophy if we lose all of our remaining League games? Although the two are not directly correlated, gaining momentum through winning games in the PL will help us to prepare for the crucial Europa League games.

I don't recall seeing Bournemouth defenders sprinting back to their goal when the ball is played behind their line. It appears far more controlled. They are well covered by their DMs.That may be indicated by the number of appearances made by Zabarnyi and Huijsen this season compared to our main CBs.

    Yves Bissouma

Not sure if he is low on confidence. But as we saw last season and in some games this season, notably Liverpool in the CC, on his game he is a fine player. But tbh neither Biss nor Bentancur have looked particularly convincing at times playing in this system.

Contingency planning : When Ange is sacked, who should replace him?

I wouldn't make a decision based on one game. I'm still in the Iraola camp as being the best fit. It will be interesting to see where Bournemouth finish the season.

Yes because winning creates momentum. Imho it's very hard to pick yourself up from a loss to a win. Plus performance in the league should be the basis for judging the competence of a manager.

No hang on, it's the injuries mate.

    Mauricio Pochettino

Watch the video Deano. It's a 15 min video talking mostly about the USA job. He spends 2 minutes answering a question about Spurs (he didn't solicit the question). Essentially he says he would love to go back one day he's thought about that since he left and would like to arrive in the situation...

    Ange in or out?

He showed he could do it to great effect vs Liverpool when we beat them in the cup. We played a very different system that night. But clearly not one which Ange prefers.

    Ange in or out?

He has shown a consistency this season we can only dream of and beaten some of the best teams in the league. Like Poch before he came to Spurs, there is no evidence either way of whether he can scale up to managing a bigger club. But the metrics look good and if he was to be appointed he would...

    Ange in or out?

Respectfully I disagree Steff. For a start, Conte relies on big "centre forwards"(showing my age I know), Diego Costa, Harry Kane, and Romelu Lukaku. One of the things that has impressed me with Iraola is how his team can cope with the loss of forwards and still score goals because the way they...

    Ange in or out?

It is all of those things too. Agreed and these things lead to the above.
  15. Robspur12

    Ange in or out?

Why Steff? He has many similarities to Poch even to the point where his teams take about a season to fully embed his style. I could give a a narrative of other reasons why I think Iraola is similar but am interested in why you think he wouldn't work here. I have to say I think Poch would work...

    Ange in or out?

I’d be disappointed but could see that my team were unlucky as we controlled the game. Today was the very definition of lucky for us.

    Ange in or out?

What an odd post. We were the home team, basically at full strength, we got 2 lucky breaks to even the game, never looked in control but somehow your narrative is that Iraola and his Bournemouth side had the bad day? Dear oh dear.

That control comes from good management not just because they've play fewer games. They have a smaller squad than us in any case. And they are still in the Cup too. Iraola and Ange were appointed at the same time.

Have to say Iraola is such an impressive manager. May already be out of our reach if other teams are looking at him. His Bournemouth team knows how to press.

*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v AFC Bournemouth ***

Bournemouth are an impressive team, because every player seems so calm on the ball, passes are controlled and invariably find their man. The players are alert to turnover opportunities, which come about because they press so well and their movement is very good. Their disallowed goal was a...
