    Moussa Sissoko

His performances seem to be a fitness issue to me and nothing else. He played 90 mins against Sunderland was ok. He played well up at Boro until he came out for the 2nd half and turned to brick. He played well against Emirates Marketing Project - a vital part of that winning performance and was subbed after 72 mins...

    Toby Alderweireld

As you have said yourself previously you need one part of the pairing to attack the ball and the other to pick up pieces in behind. I would argue that Wimmer/Verthongen as well as being left-footed, also have that style and rely on Toby to attack the ball. Dier attacks the ball in the same...

    Mousa Dembele

Wow - he was suspended for 4 games, came back and strained his hamstring (which often happens when people return from suspension/long lay-offs)...and now he's being written out of long-term plans?? I remember reading the Liverpool thread about how we desperately needed him back because we were...

    Toby Alderweireld

Agree with that 100%. I was in the fortunate position to be sat just a few rows from the touchline at the Boro game a few weeks ago so I got to watch him at close quarters for one half of the game. The guy is a massive physical specimen and he gave a flawless performance. His positioning...

85k home attendance. Not sure if serious o_O

    Hugo Lloris

Although most of us would probably see it put in the stand than trying to play through the opposition with one-twos between your GK and centre-half, its clearly what the manager wants to draw out the opposition and take the sting out of games. Its a little stressful to watch but we have to back...

    Son Heung-Min

Although its the goals getting the headlines, his all-round game is much improved. He conceded possession cheaply last year either through a heavy first-touch or poor lay-offs or just generally running down cul-de-sacs. His touch is now sharp meaning opponents have to stand off him which has...

OMT *** Tottenham Hotspur vs CSKA Moscow***

It was their DM - Vernbloom - @Hidden refers to him above as being their best player. Looked the same on TV - he must've blocked 10-15 shots from Alli & Son!

OMT *** Tottenham Hotspur vs CSKA Moscow***

I agree - he was also very good against Stoke. He is our go-to man when Dembele is out until Winks gets more experience I think.

    Harry Kane MBE

They would only know in the build-up to the game that there was an outside chance of Kane returning. It means we keep teams guessing in the 6-8 week period who have to setup to play against Janssen or Kane.

OOMT - Tottenham Hotspur V Boro

I was at the game. The first half performance was outstanding - we should've come in 3 or 4 goals up. Some of my mates weren't too happy with Sissoko but it seemed to me that certainly in the 1st half he slotted in very well. You don't hit that level of team performance unless all 11 players...

    The Goon Thread

I didn't see much of that fair play & nobility when they were tapping up our ex-captain.

    Vincent Janssen

I have a feeling that was deliberate from Lamela as he popped it off and ran on looking for the return pass. I think he fancied a goal for himself. Would've preferred he waited for Janssen to get in on goal himself. Not complaining too much though as Lamela needs to up his goal output in the PL.

    Vincent Janssen

I've seen far too many people (esp on twitter) wanting Kane dropped and Janssen in. I would much prefer to have continued down our current route of him getting minutes alongside Harry. He's unproven at the mo and I'm not sure how we'll look without Kane. I was at Wembley and I thought Kane was...

Another Tottenham vs Sunderland OMT like.

I suppose so - I just don't know how you do it/plan for it. Having said that Emirates Marketing Project under Guardiola seem to be making it look pretty simple while also having a pressing game!

Another Tottenham vs Sunderland OMT like.

Do you not think after we scored we seemed to be inviting Sunderland to come and press us? We were setup for goal kicks with the ball going short and asking Sunderland to come and get the ball. Then we'd pop 3-4 passes around and through their press and Alli was left unmarked in the centre...

Another Tottenham vs Sunderland OMT like.

Pickford's distribution was non-existent - anytime he kicked it long it went straight through to Lloris - no direction at all.

***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v Monaco***

After a pretty bright opening 20-25 mins, our play started to slow down and become quite laboured after the 2nd goal, somewhat reminiscent of the early season performances where we were playing Dier/Wanyama. I do think that our play is a little ponderous with 2xDMs. Neither Dier nor Wanyama...

I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

I think Alli will be pushed back in behind Kane. I thought he was the best of the bunch you've listed. I see Dembele & Sissoko coming in. I would imagine Son will miss out & 1 from Lamela/Eriksen. There's an argument to bring Janssen in too since we're playing a poor team at home.

I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

For me, the only reason Lamela wasn't hooked at HT was because he redeemed himself to some extent by putting the ball on Toby's head to get a goal back. If he hadn't done that I've no doubt he would've been subbed alongside Son. He grafted hard 2nd half to try to make up for the mistake.
