Pre Season Thread

I love that he's sacking it off and playing mostly the kids and departure lounge crew. We shouldn't be burning out our serious players for the sake of commercial commitments.

He's absolutely doing the "cotton wool" for most of the senior players.

It gives the upside of giving the kids more exposure, Hardy, LWB & Donley probably showed best so far.

Bent with twelve goals in seven pre season matches. Bet we thought he was going to be so good for us at the time.

It seems clear that RDZ is not impressed with travelling as far as possible.

I suspect next season will be in the US and mostly East Coast.
It will depend if we can get a sponsor after losing AIA. That has steered us Asia-Pacific for the last decade

The point is that often the left and the right winger in modern football are just attacking midfielders.

Under Poch who was playing RW and who was playing AM out of Dele & Eriksen in his 4231?

Would have been better to chose someone other than Messi when mentioning a youngster.

Not really. Your talking about the most creative player in history and he was playing on the right wing to cut on to his strongest left foot as often as possible. No reason why that would not work for LWB from the other side.

He does, but he only plays in one tempo, and that is probably why he won't take the final step. Seems he lacks pace and explosiveness. Doesn't have that burst of pace. Good passer and technically very good, but his lack of mobility is hurting his chances imo.

I think that's sadly a very fair overview.

Feel like Donely should have stayed as a #9.

Of course your right, hopefully Yang can do the same and we'll have two Messi clones.

...so important not to read too much into these games.

I found myself groaning at Yang for missing two (IMO) easy easy chances, before reflecting on the fact that he was in the right position each time and that is the harder 'skill' to possess (timing) whereas finishing improves with context and confidence. He's a player who needs a really, really good loan so as we can see EXACTLY what he could be.

As for LWB, he is a jewel and I hope we get the decision-making right with him. Given that it appears he will be sticking around until at least January, you have to feel this will be a moment to show whether he can be the raw talent that steps up or whether he needs development. Wherever he goes, he has old-school mercurialism and we have to protect that.

Who was the last actual school aged kid to play regular minutes for Spurs?
