Souza

Rains more in Lisbon than half of the UK

Bit warmer though 😂
Plus the local language would be easier for a Brazilian to assimilate to.

But agree I would like to develop him further as was impressed with the small amount of gametime he was given. Definitely a player there.

I once worked with a Brazilian and a Portuguese and they said it was easier to converse between them in English.
I'm not sure that's true. The main difference is Brazilians pronounce the vowels at ends of words whilst the Portuguese don't. The difference is maybe similar to Victorian English (Portugese) vs modern American (Brazilian). Young Portuguese also now adopt Brazilian habits, as its seen as much less stuffy

Well it is true in that that was what they said.
No reason for me to make up an imaginary conversation.

I appreciate that. I just find it hard to comprehend. I have studied the language, including both variations. They are obviously written identically. And the pronunciation differences are like this:

Boa tarde (good afternoon). Pronounced 'boa tard' in Portuguese, but 'boa tard-ay' in Brazilian

Bom dia (good morning). Pronounced 'bon-dee-ah' in Portuguese, but 'bon-jee-ah' in Brazilian

And they are some of the more significant differences. So it's hardly incomprehensible.

Are you sure it wasn't a joke? Like some from London going - blimey, try going to Glasgow, you might as well speak Chinese for all you'll understand them

Really? I would've thought it would be like real Spanish and Mexican Spanish...interesting.
Brazilian Portuguese is heavily influenced by the varieties of South American Spanish so they pronounce their vowels very differently. I've not really seen someone say they struggled to understand as much what was suggested but the sound is very different.

Edit. A Brazilian will have difficulty understand a mainland Portuguese speaker, but a Portuguese speaker will generally understand a Brazilian.

Not sure that's true. Udogie got injured vs Man Utd in Feb and came back vs Sunderland in April.
Souza started two games in that time vs Palace (and came off after the sending off of VDV) and vs Liverpool.
All the others games, people like Spence, Grey or VDV started at LB ahead of Souza.
Point is he played 4 times when Udogie was injured as a young lad coming into the league. Udogie was back on the bench for Forest when MVDV started, then Udogie played for the remainder of season.

He is a young players for the future who came into games early because of injuries, not sure he is a pointless signing

Frustratingly he looks super talented. I'm obviously not so sure of his positioning or real defensive traits but on the ball he immediately looked one of our most comfortable and suitable players.

I've said before I would loved to have been really brave and gone into this season with him being in serious contention.

My mate has travelled Brazil and now lives in Portugal - says it's almost like two different languages. He found it easier in Brazil

I guess the frustration for me was that for a long time Udogie needed REAL competition, both because of his injuries AND because he needed a kick up the backside, and when we looked like we might have a relegation threat on our hands, we still didn't get that.

I think we could have got that competetion and also signed a future punt. The fact he might go out on loan is a reminder of my frustration about that i guess

I think he did what was meant of him and will be sent for development, not like we have not addressed LB TBH

For me, the jury is still out on whether we have really tbh. Robertson, whilst a consummate professional is these days nowhere near as dynamic as a fully fit and focussed Udogie.
I fear it will not be anywhere close to being 'like for like' when Udogie inevitably breaks down and Robertson has to step in...but we'll see i guess...
