Rule changes in football

Time wasting has nothing to do with time. The purpose is to the break your opponents concentration, rhythm of play and generally mess them about.

Also, did they forget the first 150 odd years of English football before the PL came along, that’s just what it was like back then.

I started going to games in the 80’s, it’s was universally a series of goal kicks and corners. The ball spent 99% of the game 30 feet over the players heads.

The surface had a bit of an influence then.

It's about both time and the reasons you give.

It must have been studied that the amount of time you waste, is always more than the ref will add on at the end.

Think the ball is on average 54 mins. Time wasting has a lot to do with time. The opposition can't score if the ball isn't on the pitch.

I have no confidence with the referees implementing these changes with any consistency. I'll try and find the details of these changes as there are some things which are unclear.

I don't have a problem with it myself, the time gets added on at the end, both teams are free to disrupt the game when they wish to.

This could be used tactically too, if we can target keepers enough to react without drawing a booking we can get the opposition down to ten temporarily.
 
For IFAB to act they must have considered that these tactical time outs were getting out of hand, would like to to see a survey at what was the favourite time in a match goalkeepers suddenly go down allegedly injured , from 85 minutes onwards is my guess
 
Didn't they just stop players going to the bench when the goalie was "injured" in the World Cup? Do we need this temporary sin bin thing? Seems over engineered to stop Arteta being a cheating clam.
