I reckon we’ll sign one of Fernandes or Tonali. Trying to play both clubs off against each other to a certain extent.

It’s a good tactic, making each of the selling parties know we are happy to walk away if the other accepts our proposal. I expect we have also had preliminary discussions with clubs about other options should neither of these two work out.

The PSR season ending in a few days will tell a lot about where clubs’ real financial positions are. If we have some room to spare, it makes sense to close buy deals in the current year and prey on those clubs which don’t. We can then sell some of our players in next year’s PSR (or whatever it will be called) term to have those count in our favor ahead of a season with no European games.

At least, that’s what I hope is happening.

That is a VERY high bar to clear.

From the West Ham ITK/fanbase, this is the current thinking (I'm not convinced about there being no rush to sell, though I am sure that is the impression they wish to cultivate):
