Levy's Plan

Out of interest, what do you think Levy would have done that would have made the difference that the current leadership team aren't doing?
Frank would've been sacked much earlier and a proper replacement brought in. And he'd have the balls to change the replacement if needed unlike what's here now. The one time under him that we were flirting with the possibility of relegation, in 2008-09, he went out and strengthened the squad in January. I'd be confident more would've been done under him in January this time round too.

Probably would have kept Paratici happy too?

With Levy for sure there were mistakes, but he was very much capable of decisive action when things were going really poorly. It was actually used as a criticism against him, him only acting decisively in the market when we were in real trouble.

Even last January... I know Kinsky and Tel haven't exactly gone on to be great players so far, but we got in 3 players for squad roles we clearly needed. Compared to signing Gallagher for a role we already were well stocked in and a left back fresh in from Brazil. We did need a left back, sure. But probably someone a bit more ready made.

Redknapp said in an interview that Levy recently called him for only the second time since he left the club and they spoke for 30 mins or so.

Redknapp said too much, and knew he did so eventually pulled back a bit, but he said Levy wasn’t happy with how we was ā€œmarched out of the clubā€ and said if he was still there, Redknapp would be getting a phone call to come back.

Suggests to me that Levy is feeling this as much as anyone. Guess he has about a billion reasons to.

Got a link to the interview?

He's been operating within the constraints placed on him by the Lewis family. Even Redknapp has said that he always felt that Lewis was lurking behind a lot of what went on and that Lewis was responsible for sacking him.

That doesn't mean Levy got everything right, but we'd be a lot better off with him in place than the clowns we have now. At the minimum he should've been moved into the non-executive chairman role.
Why would we better off when his leadership is what lead is to this point in the first place?

You think Levy maybe putting a plaster on a gaping would and maybe surviving this season would absolve him of the terrible decisions he made to get us here?

Levy was a front for ENIC. I was critical of him but with hindsight I was aiming frustration at him when I should have looked past him to see the real issue at the club. The benefit he had is that he understood how to run a football club. The Nepos don’t. No one at board level understands the club. Ineffective and weak
ENIC and Levy are one and the same. I'm finding this martyrdom the fan base is trying to erect around him fudging hilarious. The man truly is the Teflon Don.

I have no doubt that Levy is feeling this as I don’t doubt that he has always wanted the best for the team (despite his way of going about achieving that). But if his solution to the problem at hand was to hire Harry then I would question his judgement

I think you’re the one playing dumb. I think he had complete control of how the club spent its revenue. Yes he had to operate within certain parameters (I.e. balance the books for the company he owned 30% of) but he still had sole control of a higher revenue and bigger wage and transfer budget than three quarters of the league.
That's exactly what I was saying dumbster no.1. :)

You said he had 'absolute power'. We know that's not true. He had his remit from higher up....as your acknowledging

We[[ i guess we will ever know for sure, but we have taken a dive since he went.
Thank you for some balance. Jeez we have had a history of Levy, but going on previous Frank would have been sacked earlier. We would have spent in January. But ultimately we would have still been calling for Levy to be sacked as it would have proved yet another poor appointment under his tenure.

It’s almost like you need Levy and Harry Redknapp to have put out the fires in January.

It’s ENIC at the very top and they have been responsible for the stadium go ahead and the demise of the footballing operations. Levy has als had a hand in all of that.

We are where we are due to both Levy and Enic, the good and the very bad.

Levy rang me and said I’d be playing centre mid on Sunday if he was still about.

Levy definitely knew Harry couldn’t keep his mouth shut so he has done this to get his side of the story out in the public eye indirectly.
From about 9:20.
