*** OMT UCL Tottenham Hotspur vs Villarreal ***

I didn't find it nervy at all, never felt like they had a goal in them, that game was won 5 mins in.

It's been a very relaxing evening.

I'll take that every game.

A bit nervy. But got it done, and we were the better side, just. Both sides not great if we're honest.

Thought we lacked movement in possession second half. Players needed to move closer to each other to help our passing. Lots of missed passes and then confidence dropped. First CL game for a while, and the pantomine atmosphere at home ratchets up the pressure. It works in our favour - see their keepers howler. But we must get used to playing in that atmosphere and thriving off of it. Today only the Argies looked comfortable in possession - Romera and Bentancur. Maybe because they are more at home in a febril atmosphere. Bergval was amazing, didn't stop running. Kudus looked a bit knackered by the hour mark, but was still punting.

I'd like to see our midfield get closer and work the ball through the middle of the park.

First half I thought we looked far far better at playing through a press. Work clearly been done post Bournmouth match. But then the confidence and movement evaporated second half.

A win!! Another step forward COYS

Think this is the flip side of the willingness to go more direct, sometimes we can look more disjointed if it doesn’t click.

We also misplaced a lot in the second half, regardless of the distance between the players. Not a great performance but a good result.

The passing was so sloppy and unconvincing. The movement was poor, no good quick interplay. Very disappointing performance. Lucky that their keeper threw in one for us as we didn’t deserve to win. If we play like that against Brighton then we’ll lose our second match of the season.

As it is, three points collected, hopefully lessons learned for Thomas Frank and the team and we can go away and work on being a football team again.

Cristian looked a little TOO comfortable at times!!!!!!!

Our overall football needs to improve. If a team matches us physically in the air as Villarreal did whether it be by set pieces or open play - then the rest of our football is pretty ordinary, and it's not just true of this game.

Simons and Spence shouldn't be playing together on the left IMO, two right footers on the left seldom work. Credit to the defence and I thought Bentancur was brilliant....

Yes I was refering to the second half :) First half we played through their press better and were more cohesive. Second half as the passes were going astry we needed to get a bit closer until we regained control again.
Not a great performance but a good result.

Spence having to cross with the outside of his foot is going to get a little tiring.

Romero was poor. So many poor passes and he messed up clearing the ball, giving them probably their best chance.
