It's basic hold up play and he hasn't been able to do it. Don't know why you think he'd flatten any of their defenders on the evidence so far.
 
I really do think Spence's inability to run on the outside is a massive problem today because it means we get very little on that side offensively. If Udogie is fit I would consider bringing him on or Odobert to have a possession player on the left at the moment that area is a void.
 
Lots of names of players who’ve played poorly. Can someone actually name someone who played well??
